Makes sense

I think the birthright citizenship has been abused for a longtime. One understands when poor, helpless immigrants are tempted to use that, however, I have seen countless number of literate, well educated and well to do Indians to arrive here and going with the business of having babies, primarily to get a citizenship somehow.

If the amendment is modified, it would be effective for all child births happening now on. Why would that impact Romney's candidature for presidency?

This issue had to come up sooner or later.. US has started realizing that their demography is under threat by immigration and within a couple of decades , it might completely change.

You cant have law which is not in consonance with international law. A person is a natural citizen of the country he or she is born in. Thats international law not American law. Otherwise even the children of the forefathers of America wouldnt be citizens

No mate a child born in UK or other EU countries gets the same status as currently hold by her parents and there is no such international law as you have mentioned.

What Mr jay nerdblackdog is saying is correct this law was removed many years ago, when it came to the light that women travel to UK, EU and Europe to give birth just to have the citizenship of that country.
As jay nerdblackdog has rightfully said it is not international law any more, parents citizenship is the child citizenship.

Just like how the Aryans came from somewhere and occupied India and killed and looted the wealth of the dravidian population and claiming India to be their land.

Aryan invasion is a hypothesis coined by European (British) historians. There is no physical proof of an invasion. There is no proof of destruction or loot either. When Indians projected their influence abroad (the then rest of Asia) it was done without any bloodshed! Indian influence spreaded to China, Japan and the southeast Asia diffusely, but India did not have to send an army to do that. Maybe there is a lesson for the rest of the world!!

Good point. Extending the argument, the only true "sons of the soil" are Dinosaurs or their smaller descendants the lizards. From here on, only Lizards should apply for jobs.
