what a waste and what a jerk this ravi, this ravi chap needs to be spanked nice and proper. looks like a slimy creep who instead of talking face to face abot what disturbs him, will instead go around creating elaborate set up to tease, bully, discredit, offend and be delighted with his caper. as it is samudrik shastr says people with too much hair, wedge between chins are sly and untrustworthy.
Any person with any moral upbringing whatsoever, in the place of the accused, would have done one of the following:
1) Refused the room partner i.e. the late Clementi the exclusive use of the room, it IS after all a shared accomodation. People who want privacy can seek & pay for exclusive accomodation. 2) Complained to the warden / rector / hostel manager / relevant authorities about Clementi's insistence on exclusive use of the room, if any such insistence was there 3) In case the accused is a Homophobe, he could have shifted out of the room himself / sought alternate accomodation 4) In case the accused is a Homophobe and a person who throws his weight around, he could have asked the room partner to move out of the room / seek alternate accomodation
To all those on this message board, who are implying this is a unique problem of US' overaffluence / overliberty, or somehow, since Clementi was not a hetero he did not somehow enjoy the same rights as others or that Clemenit was doing something wrong and what the accused did was correct, here's my answer:
1) Your comments about the US betray your frustration and jealousy about US' tremendous success as a nation.
2) Taping someone's personal life, then broadcasting it to an audience, is a per*ersio*.

Sorry friend, you are very much prejudiced. Whistle-blowing is something done for the social causes like anti-corruption: not for moral policing of individuals.

Sorry, please check up the definition of whistle blowing. What the accused did is usually called perversion.
Even, for one moment granting your views for the sake of argument, without in any way accepting your shallow, ill informed posturing, it would have been Whistle Blowing if the accused had filed a formal complaint with the relevant authorities about the matter.
Even though in poor taste and unethical and obviously illegal in 21st century US, the act would still have been some sort of whistle blowing, if the accused had submitted the tape / CD of the private life of his room partner along with his complaint to the authorities.
The accused did no such thing. In fact, at no point did the accused try to complain, or raise an issue that he felt Clementi was doing anything wrong. Apparently it appears that all the accused wanted was to enjoy some cheap thrills at someone else cost.
