Sorry friend, you are very much prejudiced. Whistle-blowing is something done for the social causes like anti-corruption: not for moral policing of individuals.

Sorry, please check up the definition of whistle blowing. What the accused did is usually called perversion.
Even, for one moment granting your views for the sake of argument, without in any way accepting your shallow, ill informed posturing, it would have been Whistle Blowing if the accused had filed a formal complaint with the relevant authorities about the matter.
Even though in poor taste and unethical and obviously illegal in 21st century US, the act would still have been some sort of whistle blowing, if the accused had submitted the tape / CD of the private life of his room partner along with his complaint to the authorities.
The accused did no such thing. In fact, at no point did the accused try to complain, or raise an issue that he felt Clementi was doing anything wrong. Apparently it appears that all the accused wanted was to enjoy some cheap thrills at someone else cost.

Yes. Americans do so many strange things, like animals, that Indians cannot resist watching.

Herry, Yes. Americans do so many strange things, like animals, that Indians cannot resist watching.
What ever this Ravi kid did is not justifiable in any way. By video recording, and subsequent airing it among his friends, he not only made him self stupid in a country that respects personal rights, he also killed a budding musician. I honestly feel that everyone has rights to have their sexual orientations and there is absolutely no wrong in it. What we should be worried about is future and this ravi spoiled both his and Clementi's. He should be punished accordingly..

Thats fine. But what about this Ravi airing it on the net? Does that fall under our culture? If Ravi didnt like the 'unnatural orientation' of his roommate as you say, he could have just changed rooms. Who is he to air someone else's private moments on air? Pity that you people support this act!!

Our colleges have bullying in the name of ragging and other nuisance where the freshmen are stripped and forced to do humiliating things. Thats our culture. On this holi day we can hear about many cases of violent acts and m01estations. Thats also our culture.

Why do you take shelter under “culture” for anything and everything? Which one do u define as “Indian culture”? The one practiced after the Mughals and the British ruled us or the one the free Indians followed prior to these invasions? If it’s the later, they had much freer society than the Europe and the Americas of these days, and whatever you dispose as not par of “our culture” was very much part of the India of those days. If you don’t like something say you don’t like it. Don’t bring in culture to defend your prejudice.

Everyone has rights, agreed. But not to forget they were room partners. If he was so worried about his privacy, he should have booked a hotel room.

If Ravi had problem that his roommate is going to have intimacy in their hostel room, he could have spoken to Clementi directly and told him to do his things in hotel room. But Ravi did nothing - he just wanted to have some real fun with his friends by spying on someone else life. May be Ravi is not homophobic and he would have done the same thing if Clementi would have been sleeping with girls. But what Ravi did is not only stupid but insensitive.
