All these people come together to enjoy five star hotel's kabab, biriyani and foreign wine, all paid by Indian taxpayer's money.

Exactly. their 'valuable comments' are neither original nor do they have any solutions for the problems. Any person watching or reading the news could have come up with the same comments.

missing

The people that can contribute in solid terms are the academics and they seem to have been missing here. Everyone quoted here except for Khilnani appears to be a former bureaucrat such as foreign secretary. We need both but especially the academics like Bharat Karnad, Deepa Olappaly, some JNU profs who work on China and foreign affairs etc.

This is a hastily written article full of bad writing.

China wants to become the number one country of the region
by liuyewen on Mar 01, 2012 09:37 PM

Why not?Should China feel guilty?
China has been simulating the successful mode of other economies in Chinese cultural sphere since 1980.Chinese should enjoy the same standard of living as Taiwanese (also Chinese)and Koreans.GDP per capita of Taiwan and S.Korea is $20,000.So,what is the strategic objective of China?A simple multiplication.

Re: Fare raise for Auto should not be allowed
by Jyoti Kumar on Mar 02, 2012 04:56 AM
Auto fare should be doubled with immediate effect. Most passenger vehicles in India look broken and dirty. They are ill-maintained because the vehicle owners do not save enough money to spend on repair, replacements and maintenance.

Indians...
by RS on Mar 01, 2012 09:17 PM

Oscar Wilde once said... “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken in.”

Indians please try to be Indians.... Don't try to ape either the west / USA / UK or the EAST. Be yourself and be Indian, because this is the only reason WHY the whole world looks at India! Otherwise India would be just like any other unknown state in Africa or SAmerica.

India versus India
by riten dash on Mar 01, 2012 08:47 PM

A famous statesman once said:we have seen the face of enemy, they are us.This is what is happening to our country. Our geographical and political unity is under attack from inside. Our politicians and media in all forms are spreading the fire of Islam and trying to split India. No doubt that China and USA will be beneficiaries of this melt down and will not spare any effort to hasten the same.

Non-alignment is dead and India cannot join US
by Raj Gupta on Mar 01, 2012 08:41 PM

Both ways are wrong. India has to be itself. No country can save a country of India's size. US only help countries that it has troops stationed, such as Japan, S. Korea, Europe, Saudi....., no one else US will sincerely help. I doubt any Indians hope to see US soldiers with M16 on Indian streets.

All have to admit that China IS the No. 1 in the region
by Raj Gupta on Mar 01, 2012 08:36 PM

This is the fact, not just an objective. China's economy will the twice of Japan very soon and is 4 times of India's. The steel and cement that are used by China is more than all the other countries combined. China has the largest industry in the world, even bigger than US's.
India's hositle to China can only hurt India itself in this condition. China can progress because China can make peace with all its potential enemies. We never heard China say "US is our No. 1 enemy", or "India is our Np. 1 enemy", or "This weapon is for US' or "This weapon is for India".
