Nearly four lakh Kashmiri Pandits were hounded out of their homes
by nitmohan on Jul 02, 2012 10:54 PM

Nearly four lakh Kashmiri Pandits were hounded out of their homes due to this turmoil and thousands were killed.

Some put the present figure of the number of exiled Kashmiri Pandits at 7.5 lakh.

No commission or probe has focused on ethnic cleansing and the genocide of minority Pandits, which led to their exodus from the valley.

Moreover, the persecutors are roaming free in Kashmir.

What is happening in the country OF GANDHI & NEHRU

P Chidambaram had once promised to himself

that he will blaze a trail in the home ministry that no one before him could and no one after should match!

With this intent, he chose India's naxalite problem as his instrument and opportunity for such glory. PC had just come in from the finance ministry, a ministry where he had completely deluded himself of haing served with unmatched distintion (he had actually just continued in the fatal path of giving away more and more of the nation's resources for a pittance to private profiteers in the name of reforms).

Chidambaram first declared a la Bollywood action heroes that Naxalism and naxals would be wiped out from the country. With perhaps the twin purposes of protecting the ‘interests’ of his co-landlords of the countryside across India and of hopefully leaving that trail of ‘distinction’ he promised himself, he announced the launch of ‘new’ initiatives to counter and eliminate the naxalites. One of the first among these actions was the pledging of a corpus of Rs.100 crores for the express purpose of raising and training an elite force to fight the naxals. The fund was right away set up and the ‘raising’ and ‘training’ commenced apparently in right earnest. However, news on this venture (that held media attention in the initial stages) fizzled out soon and three months on, the home ministry stopped fielding questions on it’s outcome or progress!

It was amply evident then (this was in the year 2009)

that this great venture by the home ministry - named 'Operation Greenhunt' - was an abject failure right from its inception! Neither were the naxals being subdued nor were the villagers and tribals being won over.

And with the advent of Mamata Banerjee on the scene with her clandestine 'arrangements' with the naxals, PC had to simply drop his grand idea of shooting the naxals out of the forests!

With the TMC (in alliance with the Congress) now having successfully managed to wean away a small section of the Bengali voters to win the Bengal election, Mamata believes she has no more use with the naxalites.

And so Mr.Chidambaram has come back to his drawing board with his grand designs.

Unfortunately for PC, the naxals have far too long been in existence in the forests and hills and the exploitation of the tribals and villagers in a very large tract of rural India has remained far too deep for him to get far with any of his 'shoot-from-the-hip' remedies!

And so PC has now little go but to allow his men to make false claims of eliminating naxals when all they are doing is killing more villagers and antagonising the latter even further!!

Well Left reacts only when their criminals are caught/killed. They can kill whenever they want. Look what is happening in Kerala. Gods own country. An outdated party surviving to protect own leaders only.

Sections of the CPM leadership in Kerala may be having the blood of T.P Chandrasekharan on their hands.

But while the people in general and the heavily corporatised sections of the media in particular have been virtually jumping with joy at having received this rare opportunity to keep the attention of the people on the leadership of the CPM, the state leadership has embarked on a big spree of plunder and loot of the exchequer like ducks take to water!

The examples are numerous. Every state enterprise (the KSRTC, the PWD, KSEB, KMML, etc.) that had enjoyed a relatively long period of stable and political interference free administration during the rule of the VS ministry is now bogged down with wilful and gross interference in their day to day affairs. Such interference has immediately led to either stoppage or part suspension of work in each of these enterprises. The KSRTC, that had cleared all dues to the oil companies (which amounted to more than Rs. 130 crores in 2006 when VS became CM) has begun defaulting again on its payments to IOC/HPC. More perniciously, several of its most lucrative services/schedules have been suspended/limited at the behest of private bus operators.

The KMML - Kerala's richest PSU - has been plagued by political interference since the summer of 2011 with Congress party chotanetas in the villages around Chavara prodding villagers to resist the mining of ilmenite by the company (for which the company has the KPCB's clearance).
