Eating with Hands - No Big Deal
by Vineet Nagar on Jul 25, 2012 08:04 PM

There is no need to get offended. It is a fact that our hands and nails carry bacterias because we are working and touching things. So, if you wash your hand with soap thoroughly and cut and clean your nails, you are fine.

The Second problem eating with hands is that you can't pick up phones or TV remote or work on computer while eating. Hence, cutlery comes handy because it keeps your hands clean and free from oil and food particles.

In the western systems, people go out to eat during lunch, and the concept of washing hands before eating isn't there. Hence, you can't touch food. In china and Japan too touching food by hands is deemed bad- they use chopsticks. It is just matter of culture.

Human started eating by hands but now we feel we can handle food much more safely by knife, forks and spoons - so you should use them.

Poor people in India can't afford all this stuff so they should wash their hands and be happy. No need to think what others say.

"Maturity " And We as Indians - An Oxymoron!
by sudip majumder on Jul 25, 2012 03:45 AM

We are a feudal country and that's our temperament. So I do not expect we as Indian can crack jokes at our criticism ourselves (except typifying jokes with comunity though not sure whether the community appreciates that or not) , can be at ease with ourselves and more importantly can treat others as equals. So, it would be naive to expect that we ever can accept any thing at its face value - be it positive or negative. Illiteracy is often sighted as the reason but I think so-called "technically" educated people are the real problem [see any example of posting at rediff - see the google dropdown suggestion "Why Indians are " - which always say "so cheap" or "so rude" or "so aggressive". These are search token and the result of the billions of searches ... Does it say something about this new generation Indians" - I guess it does. Does anyone think we can take a lesson from it in our everyday life ; answer would be strictly NO.

Fat Oprah
by Bjs Suseel on Jul 25, 2012 03:42 AM

No body in India complained about her big fat behind! This unhealthy looking blacky is not a role model for anybody. Stop inviting these western reporters into your house and give free lunch. Kidwai is anti India and have to defend her sister. Just eat your food the way you want, nobody watches Oprah's show other than few mentally sick fat women in US.
