Good point but a tank is like a large Swiss watch, it has too many working, moving, ticking parts, but in a missile all you have to really deal with is navigation and propulsion.

Yes India can produce ammunition if not better at least to equal caliber that India imports. India has ability and capability to do so. The big question is that if India starts producing the ammunition how are the Netas going to fill their coffers. How will they loot the country? That is the big question.

When politicians coffers need more money then Indian defense will need more ammunition the equation is pretty simple
Under kangraas rule, our defence forces have always been weakend becoz they take all the money and deposit it in swiss banks.
The question is: While India has been raising its defence budget for the last few decades, why is it that we run out of the very basic of ammunitions? Where has the money gone?

We should black list our corrupt MOD officers and leaders instead of blacklisting foreign suppliers and put Armed forces in dire situation

The worst of worst part is that in a letter to PM and defence minister the former Army Chief made some shocking revelations that if we are a facing a full fleged war then our ammo will not even last a month.Dont know what to say on this.

Rajesh Kamthe - The Ex - Chief revealed that we have tank ammunition to last only 2 DAYS and not one MONTH. Maybe the ex-Chief calculated that all our tanks would be firing shells continuously without break for 2 days. Whatever it be, it's definitely an alarming situation !!!

dont be naive. there is something called war wastage reserver which is calculated on intense/medium/low rate based on sector wise profile. the folks who calculate the rates are not as dumbbb as you are johnny.

This is due bribery & corruption case. Totally 6 firms were black listed Gov of India. Including a russian, germany & sigaporean firms. Google more this info. am unable to post the link here.
re the tank ammo shortages i wonder what the Ordanance Factories people doing ?? they have dedicated factories for manufacturing these ammos alomg with those for Navy gun ammos.. now that Navy gun ammos are in less demand due to use of Missiles and helicopter borne gunship modes , these factories were also retrofitted for tank and field Guns ammo manufacture!! there is always a shortage od Tank and field Gun ammos..?? These highly overpaid guys of ord. factories must be made answerable to this state of things..OR is it a ploy for the babus and Political thugs to make money by kickbacks,m foriegn trips and other means..????
