UnAmerican Wrong economic indicators!
by Ujwala Kulkarni on Jul 11, 2012 09:00 PM

MMS has govt has failed. There can be no two opinions abt it. However, Americans are criticizing MMS for all the wrong reasons. Any further reforms are only going to help the American economy not the Indian people. MMS govt. might want to think that rising stock indices, real estate prices are the yardsticks of economic success but it isn't so at least not in India (in US maybe).

A ridiculous demand that surfaces again and again is cut in interest rates. Since interest income is taxable in India (as high as 30.9% tax is levied), an interest rate of 15% translates into an actual earning of only abt 0.35% as the inflation rate is around 10%. Why should the Indian stock market and the American investors gain at the cost of Indian public whose saving gets severely eroded in real terms?

A Mistaken Identity
by Santosh Patil on Jul 11, 2012 07:56 PM

Tamil Nadu was the solid bastion of the Congre ss pary, which it miserably lost due to its lan guage goof up in the year 1965.Since then it is riding piggy back on either DMK or ADMK as it can not win any election on its own.I pers onally feel the public ire could have been for Times of India as it must have carried some write up against a local politician and not that American Time got mixed up with Times of India.
