Arun - that is something new. I thought Muzzlims are only allowed to marry their sisters (or rather preferred). sounds pretty disgusting.
The entity which played "a Pivotal Role in liberalizing the economy" was the IMF, not him..he just happened to be the Finance Min. when the economy went into a tailspin due to the demise of the Soviet Union, India's then #1 trading partner. It was the IMF which forced him liberalization in return for a rescue loan of few measly $billions to stave off economic catastrophy. Fact is, he was was happy with the status quo...Stalinist economic model where govt controlled every facet of the economy, a model he and his party still clings to, even while pretending to adopt "reforms".

The one who laid out the blueprint for the reforms was SubramaniamSwamy in Chandrasekhar govt and again NOT MMS!!
The one who got the reforms moving was the then PM PVN and again NOT MMS!!
All that MMS did was to follow SubramaniamSwamy's blueprint like a sheep!!!
And today, no one even knows about the actual 2 architects (Swamy and PVN) of the reforms!!!
In kannada, we have a saying: "YaradoDuddinalli YellamannaJaathre" (which roughly translates to "Going on a Yatra with someone else's money")!!!

the people of india have known it for a long time that congressia's unelected pm appointed by a semi literate foreigner presuming to be a leader can not be up to any good. to rephrase the beetles, "...money can't buy me votes".
