There are many many scientists from India who are working day and night in foreign countries tolerating bad food, bad weather, regular insults on the streets due to the colour of the skin. Because in India one cannot get even the admission form for a PhD from one university in any normal way. It was my experience, so I went abroad.

It is not only zero but the whole numerical system that was developed by Indians. What West calls as Arabic numercals are called as Hindu numerals by Arabs. The origin was from India but the since the west learned it from Arabs the name Arabic numerals stuck on. Check wikipedia.

Historically learned Indian scientists have for many centuries shown the world they are no less than their western counterparts just as capable of contributing significantly to the furtherance of Science. C V Raman, Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai, Hargobind Khurana and many more.In modern times many Indian brains have been behind many of the successes of Microsoft and even at NASA.
