Today we try to teach and talk with our child in English before even the child learn our mother tongue. Why ? so that we can feel proud among our society when our child speaks english and thus we think that we have elevated our status...
I dont have any problem with English as a language.. any language in the world is worth learning. However to respect a language to the extent that we slowly started thinking our own language as inferior is not the right thing.

If you go to Europe there are countries which are just so close to England still they dont speak English and never tried to learn it also. They have maintained their culture so why not we? This really shows our slave mentality.. Mind it again I am not against English as a language...

Why do you think or feel that by speaking or learning English, we begin to consider our "own" language inferior? Or is it the way you personally see or feel about it?
What makes you think that its better to immitate the practice of other European nations like say France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc. than learn the English language? By the way there are several European countries that speak German or French, or both such as Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium etc.
Why are we trying to make entire India learn and communicate in Hindi, which is the native tongue of only three major states - UP, Bihar and MP??? What's wrong with it? For the same reasons it is better to select a common language such as English, which is widely spoke, accpeted and learnt and stick with it. There is no other language in the world which is more spoken, understood, learnt, accepting and forgiving than the English language, not to mention that it has the world's topmost vocabulary.
