Why is the country's highest authorities so late in understanding or acknowledging the contribution of so many people that they have to be awarded after they are dead? Bhupen Kazarika had done nothing extra-ordinary or out of the box in the last one year...his contributions date back several decades...why couldn't the vt. acknowledge it earlier?
The true pioneer and the brain nehind the IT revolution/resurgence (whatever we call it) in India - Without him, there was simply no way. Congratulations Mr Vittal - Country should have awarded you long long back but you know our country more than so many of us
You dont honour a person while he is alive and out of compulsion when the poor soul departs, the government recognizes such a person indeed existed and doles out the award! shameful!
Re: What is the point in giving awards posthumously?

Such person who gets award postumously were actually missing something during their life time. For e.g. their music or their act may be good to someone but might not suit others... so when they died they actually does a favor to others and thus making 100% people feel good during their lifetime and death...thus they are given award only after they die.
