Gandhi and Sardar, who gave up their lucrative law practices to free India. Nehru (yes, Nehru)who gave up his palaces and joined Gandhi in every struggle and adopted aadmi's lifestyle But again, we are comparing freedom fighters with spiritual leaders. I don't quite understand as to why Swamiji spent 10 years in the US. I know he was a great person and someone who had seen Maa Kali due to the grace of his Guru. But why then spend half of his active life in the US and not in India?

You wouldnt have commented like this if you had read about his life history.Swamiji's main intention was social service to humanity.he had taken up the humanitarian aspect while gandhiji and nehru took up the political aspect.

Please read his writings before commenting. At least have that courtesy. What he gave India far outweighs some schools opened by RK mission.

Mr Jadadish There are certain identities with which people are remembered for ever like gadhiji (Fasting) sardar patel (Iron man stroy) bhagat singh for his court proceeding that doesn't mean that they are limited to that. Likewise Vivekanada shot into fame with that famous speech. More over i did not know till now that otheralso participated along with him. So it is the starting point of his rise

Please read his writings. It will change your life. It changed mine for sure. There is no greater man born in India in last 150 years than him. No doubt in my mind. All hindus should read vivekananda to get the real perspective of our own religion.

How did you change? you are commenting me on assuming my caste? Is that the change that you have gone through? You should be proud of this swamy for changing you this way. I read somewhere that, "ignorance is a bliss" :)

If you are working for this sect, i wonder how rest of the members in your religious sect act???!!

Well, there are religions made out of these mere speeches. Chr!_st!_anity, !s_lam are both exclusivly made out of books which are nothing but a collection of speeches.

On November 11, 1995, a section of Michigan Avenue, one of the most prominent streets in Chicago, was formally renamed "Swami Vivekananda Way"

Name changing of street in Chicago is very easy. They have street names even after Jayalalitha. A few Indians living on any one particular street can request that in their community. In chicago they have street names after others such as Gandhi, Jinnah, blah blah..

Do you think Michigan Avenue is just a street in Chicago. And that people have requested the name change shows that they know about him very well.
So instead of trying to prove yourself that you are ignorant why dont you go and read on Swami Vivekananda.

Jagdish do not compare a great scholar and a monk or a saint's name with the name of the politicians u saying about..You cannot place the name of Vivekananda alongwith the Jaylalitha,Jinnah,Nehru and Gandhi in the same column..

I was commenting on the street named after this swamy and somone posted, americans love him that is why they named the street after him. I was responding, that there are streets named after politicians too. So what is the big deal.

Jagdish Reddy the Ram Krishna Mission Institute of Culture offices is located almost at any big cities in Europe and USA..How can u say so that Swami Vivekananda is an unknown person there...Many foreigners too being member there in the mission... I am not saying just because Im from West Bengal (The birthplace of Vivekananda) but its a divine fact..
Re: Re: Fool!
by Abhijoy Mitra on Jan 12, 2012 08:26 PM
I support your sayings freewill.Vivekanada showed the Western about the enlightements of the Indians and their liberal thinkings are..We never follow the practice of convertimng people from their faiths by coercin as the narrow minded christian missionaries use to do even in this 21st century..There were many of his disciples and followers of his teachings in USA after the Chicago speech incidences in 1890 and thereafter, but they didnot changed from their christian faith as Vivekananda himself never appreciated converting peoples from their self-religions..

Just read his life story bfr commenting.Swamiji started the ramakrishna mission which has been silently doing social service to the poor ever since its inception. Curse u for commenting on such a divine person.Be aware of your low class status first.
