CBI has lodged a strong protest with CVC on the “dirty tricks” of certain Income Tax officials to intimidate crucial witnesses in the 2G case allegedly at the behest of DMK’s Minister of State (Finance) SS Palanimanickam.
During the past five months, Income Tax officials have been serving regular notices to the relatives of around 10 2G case witnesses, who have deposed against DMK patriarch Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi. Pressure has been put on them to retract statements given to the CBI during the trial in the Special Court.
