If Italy claims that the incident took place in international waters India should hang them the presence of public.If they accept there mistake send them to Indian jail for at least twenty five years and keep them on par with any other Indian prisoner who has committed murder.
It is indeed very surprising that the Italian Navy personnel (security personnel) on board the Italian merchant ship could conduct such operations, that too in the waters off the Indian Coast which is one of the shipping lanes free of pirates. Even in international waters the standard procedure is to fire warning shots to disuade the smaller boat from getting close to the ship. If these and verbal instructions fail to move the boat away, then the captain has to issue an SOS call to the nearest port indicating the incident and request for instructions for further course of action. The captain can be free to take suitable action as deemed fit if an attempt is made to forcibly board the ship. That none of such attempts happened here indicates that the firing was indiscriminate and reeks of wanton disdain on the part of the Italians. Stern action should be initiated against the perpetrators, especially the captain of the ship and the concerned security personnel.
