Sovereignty can not be traded off by any govt
by Govind Lal on Feb 08, 2012 08:20 PM

US cannot impose any condition which they could not implement in their country. In US it is ‘unlimited liability’ for the suppliers. India also should enforce this condition.
It is true that India signed nuclear deal with US. But that does not mean that they can flout prevailing LAWs of India. Similarly India has the ‘RIGHT’ to pass any LAW in future for the protection of India and Indians. The authority of a sovereign nation cannot be signed off any time in History. But the ruling class in India has a different perspective. It is wrong. SOVEREIGNTY CAN NOT BE TRADED OFF.
We have signed the Ndeal. Well and good. Now we shall prepare project reports based on our need and by protecting the environment. All those MOUs signed and agreements signed for nuclear projects prior to the signing of Ndeal are to be reworked. India should have the courage to tell them that some sort of transparency is essential for the projects. That will protect our SOVEREIGNTY.

We do not want another Bhopal...
by Ekalavyan Acharyan on Feb 08, 2012 04:11 PM

We do not want another Bhopal where we have another US company coming here and messing up and leaving with minimum liabilities.
If its our mess, we will clean it up. But, that doesn't mean others can come and make a mess in our house and walk away.

So, getting to sign away our right to enforce them to clean up is not just not right. Its better you don't enter the house at all!
