Very good article and surprising an independent view of western journalism. The line "who have strong nexus with Indian political elites whom they can manipulate via the Indian ulema" is particularly alarming for our independence.

Who cares?
by One Liner on Feb 06, 2012 08:35 AM

Who cares what India did and why? None in the world bothers what India thinks - India is neither a current super power like US nor super power of yester-years, Russia and not even a super power of tomorrow like China. We assume a great weight for ourselves - we take ourselves too seriously. Let us not analyze too much and waste our resources for this. Let us concentrate on our inner matter and not allow Indian situation to be like that of Syria.

Why?

Russia and China showed they have no absolutely no concern for humanity. Why should India always align with dictators, tyrants, and crooks?

Agree with Mahesh.

Why should India still tow the non-aligned line, when we have never gained anything out of it.

Had the US and allies supported Assad, people would have written articles condemning USA for that. So, whatever USA does, the cynics will remain cynics and will continue hating US just because US is neither a communist country nor an Islamic one.

Correct, a bunch of nehruian hipocrites. Russia vetoed because they sell so much arms to Assad and if a new govt comes in Syria , that revenue would stop. China did it for political reasons to prevent a China spring like Arab spring. The chinese did not have the guts to do it alone when NATO went behind Libya.
All votes in UN are to advance self interest, and india did it right this time.

Fact is Sunni states ruled by autocrats and monarch are not supporter of Palestine state...Shia state actively support Palestine struggle...so..it is important to neutralize such state...justice and democracy is bullshit...realpolitik is the name of the game....I support america but support all the adventure us govt initiate...it keeps wealthy rich and middle class enough to eat....

My point is not righteousness or any such crap. What is in the best interest of our coubtry. If it is green money, so be it. All the righteous hipocrites here got only poverty in india for decades.

India lost a rare opportunity to stand for self respect and justice. Instead it fell prey to the armtwisting by USA.

Correct. Besides, the UN is useless organization for the likes of politicians who go enjoy NY, do shopping on 5th avenue. This exactly what the Indian delegates do.
