Just like the caste systems Indian society is traditionally and culturally rapist and rotten. Women are never equal and face biase everywhere. Protests such as these across India are only the anger against govt policies, price rise, unemployment, idifferences, corruption etc. Govt coming up with stringent laws against rape will not bear any results unless both the existing traditional culture mindset and new laws receiprocate each other: 1. The very source of inspiration and absolute fun for raping or molesting woman in India is drawn from Mahabharata where DRAUPADI’s clothe is stripped in public for group rape and fun. 2. The same inspiration years after years carried out by often many devoute Indians wherein every 40 minutes there are instances of rapes across India. 3. Regular rape incidences are so common and acceptable practice that the rape victims never dare to report to the police all because of the societal stigma attached to the VICTIM. 4. Indian culture is well manifested by those 50 odd bystanders from whom not a single person had the decency or humanism to even cover the bodies of the hapless disrobed victims when they were thrown out of the bus. Instead of doing something immediately kept watch both victims for one hour until police arrived to take charge of the situation.

It has been happening for several decades (and perhaps all through history)!
It is another matter altogether that the middle class - that hypes this particular incident as the victim is one of them - does not consider those hundreds of other rapes/murders as worthy of their attention because the victims are all very poor and defenceless women!

Point noted. We need Anna like movement against Women abuse that span all sections of society,
Kill the rapiest in public by stoning. let the family of the victim decide. Option they have... 1] Kill them and kill them hard. 2] Leave them if they wish. Choice is given to family of the victim ...we are no one to decide....
Rape Laws are bound to be misused: 1.Prostitutes will misuse the rape law to extract money from their clients by using Rape Law as black mailing tool. 2.women will harass their male co-workers with rape cases if they are not promoted/compensated well.
To prevent Rapes: 1.Prostitution should be legalized. 2.Adolescents should be married, probably the age of marriage should be reduced to 16 years. Early marriage should be encouraged. 3.women should dress up decently in public and not venture out late nights. 4.Women should not board unknown private vehicles or move with their boy friends in public.
Past Misuses of women based laws in India: Already women are misusing the laws made for women in India. You can check the judgements by supreme court of India. The judges of supreme court itself have acknowledged this fact.
Famous false rape cases: 1.Julian Assange was falsely accused of Rape, as many international governments conspired on him. 2.IMF chief was also accused falsely of rape charges and was removed from his position. 3.Our own bollywood personalities Anu Mallik and Madhur Bhandarker were falsely accused of Rape
Even Women can Rape: Women are also molesting men/boys regularly, indecently dressing up to attract males is an act of Rape on men. women too should be tried using the same law. Many countries have strict laws for protecting men. In India, women go scott free.

All the Uneducated class in nearby States will flock Delhi and also to Mumbai and will be unaware of the stringent laws (if tabled)and will continue the same treatment towards women. Bhar/We Begal/U.P.../Orisa top the list in crime against women as per the govt stats. This issue will be forgotten by all we Indians in one Month as we all forgot the rallies and candle march as we all did after terorst attack on Mumbai. The voters turnout during election after attack was less than past elections. Shame who did not vote and Shame on all of us who will forget this rape episode.

Now the govt has to wake up and install CCTV cameras at all points like to every street light pole, every building, every tree with cntralised surveillence round the clock. More responsibly women and girls shouldnt roam around lonely at night.
