About the so called great kaveri engine
by Dhaval Patel on Dec 02, 2018 12:28 AM

It is a matter of shame and disgust, that we need "french" and "european" help. All that is needed is to privatize these projects because these government "scientists" just want to draw a good salary, feel the comfort of job security, eat commissions in tender contracts, live in government housing, enjoy their religious and social life and that is pretty much it.

If you use composite alluminium with polymers to develop the weapon it might work

Does our defence mangement go through auditing?
by Ekalavyan Acharyan on Dec 27, 2012 03:20 PM  | Hide replies

Can anyone please give the process of auditing of these managers who manages these multi-crore projects!! Are they given regular training? Are their performance reviewed regularly? Are they up to speed with latest processes and controls?
We are constantly getting delays... due to many factors, but it would be good if we can ensure the management is top class!! I feel too often the management's own failures are hidden behind many of the other factors which cause to the delays!

right question
Is MOD checks parameters of performance on Managers controlling all R&D of DRDO-DRDO can not be a sacred cow-with holier than thou attitude-I am not saying DRDO mgrs are waste-DRDO under great constraints did great stuff on Missile especially Shaurya- great work-w/o any foreign assistance
DRDO severe failures on aircraft-aircraft engines-is a mystery!
MOD-PM level have to investigate
is wrong parameters set at beginning-continuos change of specs by IAF- inferior material sciences front -incapability of scientist-wrong hands at right places-incapability of RAW/IB to arrange required high tech to reach India like ISI!Naive handling by seniors due hollowness around their heads and MOD not able to bring in their pictures due to import lobby influence-starving of funds due to MOF pressure Russian Mafia controlling tech transfer and kick back to high sums?
why the GOI is keeping quite with such severe failures-delays cost escalation-Is GTRE-Tejas are platforms to test futuristic /secretive missions/designs and people being kept ignorant like CIA-UFO cases?? GOI should present a white paper and bring in the culprits to book-if failures are by senior managers-junior level are not to be blamed poor guys It is seniors who are to whipped for fooling the nation-if they have failed-Or GOI did not support them-let there a white paper to correct all future missions to be a time bound systems to be delivered t the nation

Make it Fast
by Ramagiri Kumar on Dec 26, 2012 01:58 PM

It's something or the other better now. Atleast we are planning to use Kaveri for UAVs. But the project has to shape up speedily without wasting any more funds rather than taking 4 years of time. MOD should also act fast and put pressure on DRDO to speed up the project. Also to take into consideration in outsourcing to Tatas, M&M, if required. China is already in shape for waging the war.

No pilot will sit
by truth India on Dec 26, 2012 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

No pilot will sit inside any aircraft with kaveri engine fitted. hence it fits for pilot-less aircraft. i feel very sad to tell this but its a fact. Hope we will improve in RnD field as soon as possible.

Rather than improving R&D via DRDO, the government can save billions by outsourcing the same to Tata and M&M.

In India, culture of innovation has deteriorated a long back, may be due to centuries of slavery. Here universities are not interested in doing something worth while(as per Dr Jayant Narlikar), School system is designed in such a way that memorizing things takes a front seat than real innovative thinking. Innovation really starts when the scientists joins ISR0/DRDO. Still most of those guys work hard while people like you and me are posting on rediff boards. Universities should do basic research and DRDO should do advanced research and there should be better co-ordination with end users

the brilliance of DRDO can be realised from the fact that Kaveri engine was conceptualised in 60's and in 40 years they have not been able to make it to desired standards.we need to be realistic about our capability. if you pick up old issue of Vayu you will see article on it.sanction of 1989 is incorrect. you just change the name of gtx33 to hide inefficiency.
