I heard all these MP's demanding action from Sonia.
A country where PM is so powerless what do you expect will be the law and order situation?

True. Everybody is either a leader, joint secretary, under secretary or a party worker who has his hand in your pocket or blouse.

Now what do we do?
by J ADITYA on Dec 19, 2012 08:02 PM

I don't have words to explain my sadness over what happened to the poor girl. Now what do we do? Few of my suggestions might sound impossible but all of them are needed.
1. Security: All areas after 6 pm across the country till 9 am the next day must be patrolled. No vehicle must have tainted glass and speed limits must be controlled. Encourage the adhoc checks.
2. Sentence to guilty: If someone is 'proved' to have committed rape must be hanged within 48 hrs. The family of the rapist must also be punished (when a girl gets raped her family suffers too then why not rapists family experience the helplessness), the family member's passports and license must be blocked for 2 years minimum.
3. Bring in the probation: If you follow the trend of crimes against the women, you will observe close 80% are committed by criminals under the influence of alcohol, is that not convincing to bring in prohibition? Or at least control the license of wine shops and the shop owners have to record the customer transactions. Every wine shop should have a CC TV and must surrender recording every day.
4. Morality: Families and schools have to take responsibility of morality of the children. They need to teach boys how to respect women and girls need to explained about the limitations of society where freedom is just a word with no meaning and must be trained in self-defense.
5. Censorship: Violence and show casing women in cheap light in media must be reduced (if not removed completely).

Delhi the crime capital

While the images of the victims are published, telecast, I do not know why the perpetrators' faces are masked. Their faces should be published/telecast prominently so that they are defamed in their own society and every one can identify them clearly.

Do you think an ordinary policeman has the guts to stop a drunk son of a rich businessman in his dark tinted car with VIP/ADVOCATE/MP stickers , of Course in the middle of the night and question what is he doing - probably he would have a relative in the Parliament or he must be possessing better guns than the policeman himself.

you think it's the rich sons in their BMWs that are doing majority of these rapes? they are being done by KHAP enabled nobodies like the ones in this bus. We also need to change this mindset that the rich are driving crimes, when it's the aam aadmi that is driving most of it.

If a UK policeman can stop and charge a princess speeding on a highway and get her fined for reckless driving and overspending and not in control of vehicle. (I am talking about Princess Anne daughter or the Queen of UK)
then I am sure a policeman in India can do the same, only if they don't take bribe and have a fear of being policeman.
Police officers in UK are very friendly and helpful but every one fears their presence, even if it just one officer knowing that a whole branch of officers is only few seconds away.
when it comes to crime they are very stern and do the job very efficiently.
One will have a job to get away clean from them.

The Government which cannot protect a city how can a country?
by Jalal on Dec 19, 2012 07:28 PM

If a Government cannot protect people of a city then how can it protect the people of a Nation? It is shocking the details of above survey. Dear Prime minister we don't expect you to say a single word on the issue as you are not authorised speak atleast act now or make your home minister to do some work assigned to him rather than just thinking of how can make millions using his ministerial post.
