Cultural ambassador? Yes. Finest sitar player? No. Pt Nikhil Banerjee & Ustad Vilayat Khan both did not perform to the gallery. But ask any discerning listener of Indian classical music and they will tell who the best sitarists were.

It is not true that Pt Nikhil Banerjee and Ustad Vilayat Khan did not perform to the gallery. They have many memorable concerts in USA and UK. Pt. Nikhil Banerjee played in many concerts in Berkley, USA and his concert live recordings are available in the market.
