Well jokes apart we have contributed to the society is the invention of zero, other wise we have only have population, through out our history rules by mughal and then whites, all soughts of godmen take our people for a ride, they lead good lives
Fully agree with Justice Katju's remarks.We see the same things around us everyday!The way the idiotic politicians are glorified during birthdays,religious ceremonies,visits of so called dignatories!Really wonder if we indians even have any self respect also left forget about intelligence
Indeed if India had 90% idiots how come we are one of the fastest growing economy.Besides we have one of the world best doctors and mathematicians and soft ware engineers.What he should have said that when it comes to religion the public get carried away by narrow minded politicians and religious teachers whose only source of earning is thro' donations given to mosque and temples.So the people he should have called "idiots" are these soothsayers and not the whole on India.

@shyam and you blaming Lucknow for their adventure puts you also in the slot and shows that Mr. Katju is so correct.
Probably justice Katju meant bigots are idiots, but then they are not 90%, rather 100% of them are idiots. I salute Justice Katju for the inner feelings for all Indians that he has had. His harsh words of criticism should be acknowledged in all humility and given due thought to the inner pain that he has for all of us. If we feel the real pain of his intent for Indians as a whole, we may not condescent to criticize but rather introspect that why so few of us feel this way. Whosoever is hurt by his comments may easily put himself and his/her near and dear ones in the remaining 10% and rather not lose the real message of his outburst.
