Kashmir

Even today, Kashmiri seperaterists are to understand, whether they need peace or not. Kashmir can niver be given to PAK, it is already a seperate sovereign State, where no outsider can settle, everything is handled by Kashmiris only, what type of freedom they want, its only mirage. Lacs and lacs people from India can march to Kashmir to save it.

All these writers assess how great a man is by the degree of how much they contributed to these writers like, he hugged me, he arranged school for my children, he posted me to Washington, he never scolded me blah blah.

IKG is not such a great gentleman; he is a gentleman by default.

When he went to Kuwait during the crisis, as an External Affairs Minister he could have brought back any Indian in his aircraft. But all those who were allowed to embark his aircraft were fellow Punjabis.

It is a known fact that unlike Britain or the USA, it is Malayalees who are found everywhere in the Middle East and they are the poorer lot. He didnt allow one Malayalee or any other Indian but only Punjabis who are fewer in number but who are also well off and can fend for themselves.

Can the author tell what is IK Gujral's contribution to India in his long public life?

Many others have contributed more than IKG in their long years in public life.

Regarding his beard, IKG must have known that Lenin was ruthless revolutionary and is not known for showing any sympathy for his adversaries and mercilessly killed them. Imitating Lenin was a foolish idea particularly when IKG is known for gentleness'

It is as absurd as LeT's Hafeez Sayeed shaving off his head to look like Gandhi

Inder Kumar Gujral (IKG) was every inch a gentleman and an aristocrat in lifestyle, demeanour, clothes, food and personal relationships. But he was also a Socialist in thoughts and goals and a patriotic Indian.

Because of these 5-star socialists, india could never get rid of poverty.

No, it is only because of such aristocratic socialists, socialism gets its attention. Without that it will be in the trash can.

yes, 100 % correct. This fellow is the one who destroyed India's conterintelligence capability. To his lackeys, he may by "decent gentleman" but to many Indians, he was on par with Nehru, who traded national security for appeasing a country with strong anti-India feelings.

Unfortunately, Indians like to idolize their politicians, and once they are dead they are considered only a notch below the Almighty and beyond reproach. So no matter what damage they did, how many deaths ill-conceived action resulted in and how selfish they were, suddenly they are painted in all white and nothing remotely critical can be said or written about them by the media. Here is a man whose unilaterally action on counter-intelligence did eventually at least contributed to, if not resulted in 26/11, but why is media mum? Do Indians lack intellectual honesty for introspection? Why?

An article should also mention the mistakes of the person. Gujral unilaterally disbanded the covert group of RAW, which takes atleast 10 years to build. We continue to pay the price.
