Gujral was a Thankless person
by sashi karmwar on Dec 01, 2012 09:53 AM  | Hide replies

Gujral was always elected as Rajya Sabha member from Bihar and styed in a house at Patna Sahib. But when he became PM he doled out all the sops to Punjab just because he was Punjabi. People of Bihar will never forget this act of ungratefullness of Gujral.

sashi karmwar,
Gujral was elected from Jalandhar constituency after he became the PM. Initially he was a Rajya Sabha MP.
He might not have done anything for the state which elected him.
But then he got elected to the Lok Sabha unlike the present incumbent.

No, sir. Gujral became PM as a Rajya Sabha member and after waiving off Punjab debt, he could get elected to LS from Jullunder in 1998. Manmohan Singh is the third PM from RS which is designed for giving representation to valuable professionals who can contribute to the governance. If with Manmohan Singh's background, he is unfit for RS, then who is? Shatrughan Sinha?

Directly elected
by Vishvaksenah E on Dec 01, 2012 09:48 AM  | Hide replies

Due to various reasons, Gujral became the Prime Minister.
But at that time he was not the member of the Lower House- Lok Sabha.
So he contested the election m won it and continued as the PM. He was of the firm belief that the PM should be elected by the people.
It was the convention that the PM has to be a member of the Lok Sabha.
This healthy convention has been broken by the present incumbent....who though a great scholar in economics has not won a single election.

manmohan Singh is the third PM from RS, sir and the Constitution does not discrinate between LS and RS, only rough and tough half educated politicians find fault.

CertifiedChaddis are quick to point this out. They have scant regard for Parliament.

Did the Honorable Late, Shri I. K. Gujral, Ex - PM of India and

Sophisticated, Gracious Gentleman to boot, dismantle India's 'active' intelligence apparatus in a neighbouring country?

There are a few stories in the media to that effect, and as I recall some hints to that effect in one of Mr. B. Raman's write ups.

It appears that R & AW had set up what can be called a certain type of network, that can help further India's interests, in a foreign country. It is believed that the network was dismantled at the behest of the above gracious gentleman and India has never been able to rebuild the same again. The neighbouring country is ofcourse the same one from which 'stateless' actors crossed into India to wreak mayhem in Mumbai on 26/11.

I guess nothing in life comes free, not even the famous 'Pubjabi Jhappi'.

I believe India's external security apparatus, was well maintained under the late P. V. Narasimha Rao, but then he was never accused of being gracious, far off of delivering Jadu ki Jhappis, at most he was a patriot and an intelligent leader.

Well, rest in peace, Gujral Saab, we unfortunately don't have that option, considering as who we have to live with a neighbour with a propensity to .....

You are right boss. This man dismantled the whole intelligence network of indian agencies in other countries. He practised "Gujral Doctrie' which effectively meant that we will always smile and thank you even if you kick us, kill us or rape us. These kinds of people are traitors for whom their image matters more than the country where they live. Just like Nehru. Good he is gone.

Again what was achieved by Gujral? He let the Pakistanis run riot. And during the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam, Gujral went to Baghdad and hugged Saddam for a photo op! The harm it caused to India vis a vis a liberated Kuwait, the GCC (Gulf Cooperation council) and the US & its allies was incalculable!

No offense meant. IK Gujral was no NATIONAL HERO or STATESMAN! He was an ACCIDENTAL Prime Minister, a back room manipulator and a part of the DRAWING ROOM INTELLIGENTSIA who managed to thrive in DELHI and lord it over India!
