Why is wanting to send the child back to India considered as "abuse". Why is the Indian media gladly accepting the Norwegians' version of this incident.
It is strange that Indian parents are only being targeted in Norway. Indians have been settling in various western countries over the past century. One has never heard of such complaints in any other country.
Probably it is time for our government to issue an advisory asking Indian citizens, particularly couples with young children not to travel to Norway even as tourists, leave alone to take up work in that country.
Maybe it is also time for our government to have a threadbare discussion in the matter with the Norwegian government, and if neccessary, to have a relook at our diplomatic relations with them.

Let these Norwegian thugs try the same thing with even one Chinese family. You'll see that China is respond differently to this trashy Norwegian high-handedness.

There are several points to be noted by people who aspire to live and work abroad in Western World:
1. Out popular culture on TV and films show about Jeans, Short Pants, Pizzas, Burgers, Cakes, Valentine Cards and so on and people are well aware of them. But one needs to know the basic laws of the land in Western countries in order to conduct lives smoothly.
2. Take the case of Savita Halappanavar in Ireland last week. They were not aware of the laws in Ireland until it was too late to take alternate action.
3. Parenting and disciplining in India is very different from how it is done in the Western world. In the West an individual has many Rights and are protected. Our Indian mindset often does not understand how these Rights work in the case of Children. This is extremely important to know.
4. Not sure about the full facts of this case, but from what I am reading, it may be a huge misunderstanding between the Parents and the Authorities in Norway. Indians are extremely protective of their kids like the rest of the world and there is no way these Parents would have harmed the child.
5. Often words translate differently than we as Indians think. This often leads to miscommunication and mistakes.
6. Finally, Norway authorities should look at this case fairly.
Now the child is crying as he is missing his parents which is causing agony both for parents and the child. They have caused more pain to all by their foolish laws. The norwegian authorities should be jailed for their act which is more painful than the parents scolding their kid.
The shameless Indians who die to live in white man's land have no right to complain. They are willing to lick their boots to live in US,Europe etc deserting India.

look like you did not get a chance you probably have gone there and your visa expired or something without getting a chance to convert to permanent residency.
Norwegian laws are strange. Despite this, there seems to be no dearth of Indians here trying to needlessly belittle their fellow countrymen and portray the white man's laws as superior.

Cultural sensitivities are different in India than in Norway. We should be accommodative of people of other cultures. That does not seem to happening here.
Apparently, the child was bringing home toys from his school... The parents tried to discipline him by scolding him... what should they have done?? Call the police and report that their child is stealing from his school???? or Just curse their fortunes that their child is on a wrong path???? Shouldn't the child know that stealing is wrong and if he continues to do it, he may get into trouble???
It is the discipline imbibed by parents alone that has kept down the rate of juvenile crimes in countries like India,China and Japan compared to the rest of the world.
Also uptill now there have been so few juvenile crimes committed by the children of NRI's throughout the world that they can be counted on fingers..
This is not the first time that an Indian is having a problem with the Child services in Norway.. The economic condition in Europe is not so good and if Indians are ready to work for more hours at less wages then it may only worsen the situation.. So, who is to say that this is not one of the ways to deter immigration of the Indians???
