prevent loss in transmission of electricity
by Raghavendra Bhat on Sep 01, 2012 10:40 AM

Nuclear power is dirty and prohibitively costly. Instead of going in for nuclear power, the state should go in for a massive improvement drive of the transmission mechanism of all state electricity boards and of the power grids. The state should ban the generation of nuclear power because it infringes the basic right to life. The state need not pamper to the ever-increasing thirst for electricity from our industries at the expense of individual citizen safety.

Praful Bidwai! once again prooving himself as antinational
by Ravi on Sep 01, 2012 12:45 AM

All his arguments here were negated by the independent technical experts as well as the Government experts which is reviewed by the Chennai Highcourt
“By taking note of the overall situation, we are of the view that the KKNPP in respect of Units I and II do not suffer from any infirmities either for want of any clearance from any of the authorities, including the MoEF, the AERB, the TNPCB and the Department of Atomic Energy, and there is absolutely no impediment for the NPCIL to proceed with the project,”.

The usual suspects, again...

Now that the Madras HC has given the go-ahead to Koodankulam, it is but natural that the ususal loony crowd of Leftists and other antinationals are back to howling. Bidwai's "list of experts" contains all the useless Leftists - of course - plus the unconstitutional and unaccountable "National Advisory Council", whose anti-national credentials are well-known. The others, like the retired admiral Ramdas, have a long history of undermining the nation's interests under the garb of "progressive ideology".

There are others, other than your 'loony' crowd of leftists who are more concerned about citizen safety than industrial power demand. The Leftists stand for more power generation even at the expense of safety, they may be mouthing opposition to the UPA now.

Nuclear Power Plants
by Manas Sen on Aug 31, 2012 04:38 PM  | Hide replies

We need energy security for sustaining our projected growth. And such security can only be provided by the Nuclear power only. The government should bulldoze all opposition and set up as many nuclear power plants as are needed to meet our requirement. This is a must and there is no other option.

Citizen safety is to be accorded a higher priority than energy security. Projected energy demand from our industries is not an essential criterion for establishment of nuclear reactors.

Bulldozing the opposition is an excellent idea. Haripur and MB should be the starting points. If it works there, it will certainly work over the rest of the country.
