Its not just 21 years. In Norway, one can be sentenced to a maximum of 21 years but after that sentence, he will be tried again and will get another 21 years in jail. In short, he will spend the rest of his life in jail.

What is 21 years in Jail?
by Argumentative Indian on Aug 24, 2012 02:28 PM  | Hide replies

Is it 21 years of:

1) Assured food security? Even if billions either starve or are undernourished around the world, this gentleman will get his measly daily dose of calories per EU standards: Eggs, bread, bacon, cereal milk for breakfast, bread, meat, poultry, fish for lunch & dinner?

2) Access to gym & sports facilities?
While millions of children work their childhoods away in 3rd the world?

3) Assured access to the best medical facilties that the Norweigien Tax Payer's money can buy?

4) Newspapers, magazines & books? Are they allowed for 'gentlement' & 'ladies' who are imprisoned for violent crime?

5) What about television? Will he be allowed television viewing priveleges?

How many readers feel this is ANY punishment AT ALL?

Meanwhile the parents of those kids & loved ones of the grownups will learn to live without them.

As I celebrate my daughter's twelfth birthday today, amidst her laughter, I shall spare a thought for those parents less fortunate than myself.

Yet, however many thoughts people (pansies?) like myself spare, I really don't think this 21 years of assured goodies is any sort of punishment.

Outstanding!

BTW do the jailed inmates have to have made efforts to have girlfriends or boyfriends, prior to their being jailed or are they allowed access to dating sites etc. to make amends for time spent in planning their crimes and thus being unable to make time for social activities?

Also for losers who can't get a decent person to give them the time of the day, would the jail authorities provide such girlfriends or boyfriends, like a lawyer is provided at the trial stage to those who can't afford one?

This is also the first judgement. In India already two judgements by trial court and high court has given death sentance. If Kasab was in Norway he must have given just 12 year suspended sentance. That is judicial system in Scandinavian countries.

Now look at why Sweeden want Assange. His crime is that he forced sexz with Proz with out using Quondoms

@ Roy,
Julian Assange, that's a part of the story. Apprently he intitially forced the lady but after she resisted for a measureable period of time, he inquired what was the matter & after comprehending her requests, actually put on said prophylactic and proceeded to do the act.
I'm not sure what is the exact charge against him, but its most probably zexual misdemeanour.

Going by the standards of the jail sentence given to the mass murderer, Julian Assange will probably get a sentence of around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Too short a period to offer any hospitality, maybe just a cup of coffee on the tax payer's money.

Assange ofcourse is sh**** in his pants, not at the thought of Swedish lays, but because the US wants to lay their hands on him, and one among the many attractions that make the US world famous, apart from Las Vegas is a beach resort called Guantanamo Bay, Gitmo, I believe.

BTW, I an TOTALLY with Julian Assange, he should NOT go to Sweden under some nonsensical charges only to be pulled out to the US. NO WAY.

But for the wonderful, kind hearted Anders above, I can think of no place better than Gitmo.

21 years sentence INADEQUATE
by ranjan chowdhuri on Aug 24, 2012 02:04 PM  | Hide replies

The sentence of 21 years is too light for the crime he has committed.Death penalty would have been most appro priate. No wonder we hear that phrase getting away with MURDER.

Yep. Punishment as in 21 years of the good life.
Wonder if they allow gourmet food & fine wines in the Norweigien prisons? After all, people, even if they have murdered 77 other people in cold blood, must be treated with dignity & respect, else what is the difference between them and us, right?

There is no death penalty in Norway. Norway is an over idealistic nation as crazy as Breivik. They should have flogged and then hanged him in public with piano wire for slow strangling but alas, now, he will live happily ever after.
