Selvarasa Pathmanathan or "KP" (56) was LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran's oldest and most trusted associate, first coming in contact with him in 1976. During some interview (before he died), he openly says that it was a politician in TN who(After a pause) A politician from Tamil Nadu, whom Prabhakaran trusted, told him that his information was that Rajiv was angry about his refusing to give up the Eelam (independent Tamil homeland) demand, and that (the politician had information that) Rajiv wanted to take revenge by killing Prabhakaran. Now we all know what that 'politician' is.
Selvarasa Pathmanathan or "KP" (56) was LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran's oldest and most trusted associate, first coming in contact with him in 1976. "KP" surrendered to the Sri Lankan authorities and was placed under house arrest, from where on 9 August he talked to Madhav Nalapat:
Q: Why did Prabhakaran order the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi?
A: He was convinced that Rajiv wanted him to be killed. He was worried that the Congress may win the 1991 polls and that Rajiv would once again send in the IPKF, this time to finish him off. So he decided to get him first.
When Who gave him that idea?
A: (After a pause) A politician from Tamil Nadu, whom Prabhakaran trusted, told him that his information was that Rajiv was angry about his refusing to give up the Eelam (independent Tamil homeland) demand, and that (the politician had information that) Rajiv wanted to take revenge by killing Prabhakaran. Reading this anyone can easily guess it was Mr. Karunanidhi who was behind this.
Didn't we learn our lesson in Bangladesh. We are not powerfull as USA to poke our nose in everyone's business. First take care of our country and let Sri lankans kill each other.

But India has signed the indo-srilankan agreement on behalf of tamils.
Its time to remember the brave Srilankan forces who are one of the few forces who took the fight against terrorism to its logical end and destroyed the terror network. Bravo srilankans. They gave such a blow to the so called 'tigers', that, in the end the leader of the tigers had to hide behind women and children to save his life. Kudos tothe persevearnce shown by the forces in the face of false human right voilation accusations..
All those tamils who genuinely care about the plights of sri lankan tamils should have known these facts:-
1) The military operation in SL that ended with elimination of LTTE including Prabhakaran had the tacit approval of India. 2) M.Karunanidhi was very much party to the policy which was formulated by UPA under Pranab. 3) As per the policy, the Indian govt moved its navy in such a way so that prabhakaran could not dare to escape from there even when it had become clear that the end is near. 4) As per agreement with UPA, DMK offered mere lip service asking SL army to restrain themselves.
All these are facts known to everyone.
Then why this drama? Please don't waste time here and ask these questions to DMK.

Sreekumar, you are partially correct. But please know why India provided the support to Srilankan army. If not China was ready to help them and India did not want Chinese to have a base in Srilanka as it may become a security threat to India later. So, India comprised looking at the bigger picture. When you and me can think so much. There are well educated highly talents Diplomats and IAS officers in the Government. They definetely would have discussed all the possibilities and options. Its easy to discuss in the forums but when it comes to decision making they have think as a nation and not as an individual.

you are all pathetic. the sole reason New Delhi provided support to Sri lanka was the simple racist one. They look down upon south indians and esp tamils. Proof ? take the bangladesh war and the present job distribution in central ministries in delhi.
