JAI JAWAN JAI KISAN
by KRISHNAN on Aug 14, 2012 03:44 PM

I used to hear these from my childhood onwards. But do we value and reward them when they live. Whether our Army is well secured with Arms. Thanks to Gen VK singh we came to know how deep the cancer or corruption entered in Army. How many Kisans commit suicide in a year. The middlemen are still earning much more than the poor farmers. How can one be happy? How can one say "Happy independece day?

I celebrate Fourth of July for this and many brave Indians ...

... Musharuff, the barbarian, had fooled us in the most cowardly manner as only a Paki peeg would behave.

The Kargil war was thrust upon us. However it is heroes like Yogender Singh Yadav of the 18 Grenadiers who led us to solid victory.

I celebrate the Fourth of July for this and all other brave Indians who took back Tiger Hill and every inch of space that the piggots were forced to lose.

Thank you for this Rediff.

Touched Me
by Shreyas Shukla on Aug 14, 2012 03:22 PM

This article made me cry. What Yogengdraji did was really great something extraordinary surviving 15 bullets and having the will and desire to roll down the frozen terrains to inform the comrades about the impending danger now that is commitment at its best. Refusing death to come along only to perform duty all this is great too great but all this is very very special because he did this when he was 19 yrs old. To have so much awareness at 19 while guys of his age are busy in discos multiplexes completing engineering and looking for a job in multinationals or flying abroad. I think he is the modern day bhagat singh, sukhdev and rajguru who were executed by the british in their early 20's. Hats off Sir

kargil
by Rajesh Bangad on Aug 14, 2012 03:13 PM  | Hide replies

Kargil was disaster as far india was concerned , same story of winning in battle and loosing on table. India could have started full fledged war with Pak during Kargil to destroy them but did not do so.

u cant say kargil was a diaster our intelligence was a disaster be it kargil or be it 26/11. Dont blame these heros for the careless decisions of his superiors. He was assigned a task and he performed it against all odds.

Proud of people like you
by AR Rehman on Aug 14, 2012 03:09 PM

Dear Yoginder Sir, You are really brave and so is our Indian Army. You rightly said our army is one of the best in the world inspite of poor artillary and equipment. I hope the politcians and other bureaucrats understand what pain you are going through in safe guarding our country. Jai Hind.

Really touching story
by vinnie on Aug 14, 2012 02:59 PM

This is really touching story of our Jawans bravery. However I still wonder why India could not use advanced technology to gather information through satellites. By using careful planning and using latest technology we could reduce casualties. Infrared cameras, bulletproof jackets/gear, surface to surface missile technology and many similar aspects could help.

Kargil war was real example of failure of central government to make tough decisions(to use air defence), lack of planning, lack of technology & resources.

Since then situation has improved, there are more resources being acquired; however attitude does not change. Our Jawans are still considered as expendable.
