No one can take away what Indian Army has given for last 60 odd years to the Nation. We as a citizen of India will and shall ever remain grateful to them and continue to support them for their selfless service. It is because of the Netas the current situation has arise.

Ravinder to a very large extent you are right but in our eagerness to criticize netas we forget the devious and mischievous role the bureaucrats play. They are the real villains, netas are pawns in their hands
Nothing major except skirmishes like Kargil and Siachen has been witnessed since 1971-72. In suxh a situation, the armed forces start looking like a burden, financially and otherwise, to the politicos. This makes them grow closer to the administrators (and similar government rules and regulations clerks). In reality, it is the perception that matters. No one ever attacks a strong person.
UK traveled 8000 miles to wrest the Falklands (Malvinas) back from Argentina but gave up Hongkong without a whimper.
The corrupt nexus between Netas, Babus and Media have done the greatest damage to the Indian Armed Forces. It has reached a stage which is irreversible.Indian Soldier or an officer has not got the rightful place in society because of the corrupt nexus between these power mongers.Every other country, I have seen the Armed forces getting so much respect in the society. In India, they are demeaned so much, now no one capable is willing to join the armed forces.Even those who are joining are substandard and not suitable for military duties and leadership. The destruction is almost complete thanks to these corrupt and selfish Babus and Netas.Even God will find it difficult to save this ountry

hey dont compare sachin and army. sachin plays for his records and benefits but army gives its life for us. tomorrow if sachin scores century he is going to get crores of rupees without any benefit to you and all those people wasting time watching him but if an army man is going to kill an enemy you and your family will be safe and will exist
Could not understand what the author is trying to convey in this article.
Is it the author's case that the media should not highlight the cases of corruption, groupism and other ills which have slowly yet progressively started degrading the professionalism and efficiency of the armed forces.
There is no doubt that the political and bureaucratic classes have lacked vision and tried to keep the armed forces in check.
However, the senior military brass have not covered themselves with glory. Except for the current chief, most of them have adapted to the status quo and showed more interest in post retirement benefits like governor, ambassador or representatives of foreign arms companies.
Today the toppers at the NDA and IMA want to join the Army Service Corps as the first choice. No takers for Infantry or Armoured Corps.
Stating the truth and exposing the rot which have crept into any institution(whether it is the military or ISRO) does not weaken it or demoralize it. In fact, they get strengthened.
We have forgotten the days when China invaded India and took a chunk of Indian territory. Nehru was P.M. then and V.K.Krishnamenon was the defence minister. The Indian army was not prepared for a war. Thousands of them died. There was no governence but only a cry for peace on the basis of Panchasil. we suffered. Chavan was then given the portfolio of defence. He did his job. Now also the position of the country is as it was then. Parties are after their chairs. No body is thinking about the defence of the country. Procurement of arms are taking decades. We are doomed to suffer. We never thought that this will be the price of democracy. The only way is to revamp the system to survive.Let us cleanse it.

Simple question. Gernamy in the 40's planned and executed the 2nd W.War with such a precision , the world stood stunned. If not for Hirishima and Nagasaki bombs the result of the war would have been different. Today in the 20th century , India another potential power house , stands under-prepared for a war !!. The stocks of arms are insufficient and equipments are outdated. What these bureaucrats are doing in the name of ruling this country ?. Waiting for another armed conflict to upgrade that?. Hell with this corrupt governance. We need a powerful man the kind Martin Luther King to unite and take this country forward. Will he be born ?. Is there some one already?.
