Yes, certainly golden era of corruption, psudo comunalism and golden era of boforce, harshad, CWG, 2G, HAWALA, SUGAR, UREA, Etc, etc, etc. scams.
I'm not aware of the intricacies of the case, but prima facie, it appears that, even if not active collusion, there was delay (deliberate or otherwise) in stemming the riots.
A seasoned politician that you are, you can admit the with the benefit of hindsight, I realize that my administration could have acted with more alacrity. I apologize (or whichever other word suits you) for the inefficiency and request my fellow Muslim bretheren not to read anything more into the developments of that time.
Having done a "political ablution", a person of your capability should rise to the national stage, as the country needs "no-nonsense politician with a can-do attitude".
