It is normal
by Anindya DasGupta on Sep 11, 2011 05:34 PM

Few years ago Mr Druze the world famous economist & a close associate of Dr Amartya sen was mauled with similar savagery by security forces.A TV journalist of a major Bengali TV channel was almost beaten to death by CRPF jawans because of his attempt to take photos of few dead security men due to a naxalite made explosion at Lalgarh, Bengal. Experiences of Mr Devadas, Mr Druze & innumerable others publicized or not only tell us how pathetically true are grim stories of Manorama & thousands of raped women in the north east , Kashmir & even elsewhere by the Heroes in uniform.Along borders of West Bengal berserk BSF accounts for maximum human rights violation against civilians which has made them more detested than the cross border smugglers & anti-socials.Raping of tribal women in naxalite infested areas by CRPF is another ghastly reality.Nothing more alienates the public from the state as does state sponsored terrorism & the war against separatism gets lost when the common public en mass shuns the government. If kashmir, Nagaland & Assam are lost cases to India the credit should go not to extraneous terrorism from Pakistan or China but actually to the brutality of a section of security forces who often chooses to behave like an occupying foreign force or organized group of hardcore criminals rather than protector of the mass.

Brutish treatments
by KARTIC KRISHNAN on Sep 11, 2011 05:28 PM

After Id is just over you have to be careful. Once the food goes inside in extra quantities at all times after one month of being in semi starvation mode, man descends straight back into brutality. I believe Gandhi also refers to this somewhere.

Makes the blood boil

Such misuse of force and behaviour makes the blood boil. If there is any truth in these accusations, frankly speaking these policeman should be given to a mob and made to suffer mob justice. Then they will realize what misuse of power can do along with helplessness. Thrash these guys if they are guilty !

things hsve gone worse because of unscrupulous militants.... they attack and kill police anywhere. police live under constant fear and it makes them act erratic and frustrated.

paki forces were forced to wipe off entire population of dhaka from the stress of mukti bahini... pakis r trying desperately to bring same situation in kashmir.....

if kashmir has to be settled then we sgould urgently dismember pak

You could make a case for better training for the Police. Also one for conscientious youth to enlist in the Police, since the current crop of Policemen seem to be loutish, but it is not possible to argue that the Police are behaving badly out of fear for their own safety. Bad behaviour actually has the opposite effect, that is it turns the Civilian Populace against the Police, putting the Police at even greater risk. Things can be turned around only by Law Abiding and Law Abiding Law Protectors who are demonstrably better than the rebel elements.

Have you seen the report telecast by the TV channel Headlines Today. The brutality shown by the Shri Lankan army was terrible. The report showed as to how mercilessly Shri Lankan army harassed Tamils and raped their women. It was horrible. The violence is always condemnable. But Mr Pathsinghe,pl donot try to brainwash others by giving false information. We Indians know as to how Lankan Buddhists have been harassing Shri Lankan Tamils.Pl note that They are Shri Lankan civilians and they have right on their homeland.

One can not dismiss this merely by saying that it is common. If it is, then there is no wonder that people rise up against this "oppression". Do recall that it was precisely on issues such as this that the War for Independence from British Rule was fought.

You are luck Mr. Devdaas

Mr. Devdas you are lucky mate. You should thank almighty for they didn't kill you in a fake encounter and pass you as an LET commander. You would have been buried with the thousands in the unknown graves which are present across length and breadth of Kashmir. You are really lucky to tell this tale to the Indian public, who never belive that their forces do such attrocites in Kashmir because of their blind jingoism.

Umm... wouldn't it be simpler to burn the evidence than to bury it? Just asking...

Happy 9/11 anniversary - I'm sure you celebrate it unlike the rest of us uncivilized brutes.

Dear Summanth. If the armed forces burn the evidence they will not rewarded with money and promotions. They have to produce dead bodies to claim the rewards.

'Living dead is far better than dying in shot'? Sorry mate, I couldnt agree...... Do you ever count how many pandits living in tents as refugees......? Is this so called ' fake encounter' started before 1980's, who started the fake war? you just want us bend our backs over the centuries......? Wat u feel when ur thrown out of your own house and rape & kill ur kins. You should thank many those pandits didnt choose guns as 'mohajirs'. You should thank them you still living in India and you should thank atleast few people still being alive....

you are talking about kashmiri jihadis and stone pelters who should be shot at sight instead of arresting or torturing.

Yes Savji. You are right. Freedom doesn't come without sacrifices. All forces of occupation commit attrocities in the name of jingoism. The Indian army is doing exactly the same, rather i should say worst than what british army did during Indian freedom struggle. we take heart from the Indian freedom struggle to achieve the goal of freedom for Kashmir also. No matter it takes another 100 yrs for Kashmiris to fight for their birth right. Kashmir Zindabad.
