For the information of all, Nehru gifted Cocoa Islands (just 27 km north of ANdamans ) as a good will gesture. Burma has now leased the islands to China. China has set up its surveillance equipments there to monitor Indian missile and sattelite launch tests in the bay of bengal. Have you seen a nation more foolish than India ?

Geography also has to be taken into account. There are several natural harbours in the Andaman and Nicobar islands(of which 38 are inhabited) while there are fewer in Lakshadweep(10 inhabited islands).
