In India Khorana would at the most achieved just an unknown name. So is the case with Dr VR. They are Nobel winners only when they leave the shores and for GOOD. India gave Bharat Ratna on HG. Hargobind Khorana was offered Padma Vibhushan which he accepted.It was commented in some circles that the government wanted to place Khorana one level below C.V.Raman.Other offers include membership of Ghalib centenary committee(which was accepted) and chairmanship of Indian Space programme(which was declined for obvious reasons).
Two different persons with unique identification of respect. Nobel prize is awarded on merits but most of our erstwhile institutes are selling knowledge for a price.
