How India claimed Khorana
by palanki narayana on Nov 25, 2011 03:30 PM

Khorana was told by CSIR that there are too many organic chemists in India and there are no more jobs to be had. When he moved to USA and won the Nobel Prize,R.K.Laxman published a cartoon in which one politician tells another "Good that we gave him no job.Where would he he been if we employed him".When Khorana won the Nobel prize,Science Reporter(the official publication of CSIR claimed that the journal predicted a Nobel prize as soon as the scientist's work on genetics was published).Punjab University awarded an honorary doctorate. As Dr.Khorana refused to attend the function at Chandigarh, the convocation was shifted to New Delhi.Chief Minister Zail Singh compared Dr.Khorana to Lord Rama and Krishna, who according to him were Punjabi Puttars! The central government invited him to lead our space programme, only to be told that it was a wrong offer to an organic chemist. He was later offered a Padma Vibhushan(thus placing him one level below C.V.Raman) and a membership of Iqbal centenary committee.

Why no mention?
by Jaganniwas Iyer on Nov 25, 2011 01:41 PM

It is appalling that an Indian of the eminence of Dr. Hargobind Khorana is completely ignored by the media in India, which has acres of news space for worthless dynastic princelings, criminal politicos, skimply clad female bodies and their dumb quote-a-minute nonsense and useless celebrities. Little wonder, Nobel Prize winners are made elsewhere.

Genetic Engineering and Its Side Effects.

PLEASE THINK LOGICALLY ON WHAT I WRITE HERE. EMOTIONS ONLY LEAD TO LOOSE MOTIONS (Lost movements).

And like many, we are against genetics trying to disapprove of heredity and heritage disorders (Why? People usually contract diseases after 45. They give birth before 40 in Inida. Then, how can you transmit hereditary diseases?) Logical eh!

Please come up with a debate against what I said in words and convince without use of influence or money. We'll see. Okay!

also use decent English please, you don't make a lick of sense there, try framing sentences in English not translate from whatever language you speak.
