This incident could have averted if police take immediate action on culprits instead they were reach the spot too late. This shows how grave is law & order of state. now atleast all 20 nos goons involved in crime to be immediately booked under strigent Indian penal code include rioting, murdering & molestation charges. If govt. really thinks it should see that they should not get bail also to protect witnesses.
Mumbai & some other parts of Maharshtra have seen increasing incidences of eve teasing, backed by senior politicians.
About five years ago, a bunch of NRIs were severely teased / molested outside a Disco / Pub in Mumbai, after a New Year Eve's bash. The perpetrators were initially arrested, but then they went to meet a top politician, whose party is out to clean Mumbai by throwing out UPs / Biharis and suddenly, it was no longer a big thing. Infact, it somehow, now appeared to the women's fault that they were teased in the first place!
A few years ago, a bunch of goons teased / molested women, inside the premises of a private club, and the management could not do anything. Again, there were rumours of the same political party being involved.
Maharashtra is slowly deteriorating. The only reason people are not leaving this place and moving away is because other places like Delhi etc., are even worse and already deteriorated much more.
It is a shame that our country has toothless laws & the only state that I know of, (Maharashtra) that was well governed (the Mumbai police is exemplary, I know from personal experience, having been a complainant once), is determined to go the way of the rest of India rather than the rest of India being determined to improve itself.

perfectly put.Mumbai police has been instrtucted by their bosses not to register NC and FIR's so the crime stats are much lower. On the other hand the law and porder situation is awful and the worst thing is the MP's are not accountable.Noone can ask them anything.

As long as laws can be either brought by money or undermined by power such things will happen.

media would have shown it 1000 times if it would have been happened in gujarat here hardly some channels showed it
Its sad thing that goons have taken over the city. Sad part that some illeterate people think that girls moving out in the night are of low character. They never think that they have got sister, daughters, mothers etc. The mentality has to change. These people should get reeducate to think straigth. Thanks to Kenan and Reuben to show that there are bold people out there to protect females. The police should also look into the angle of whether there drug or piracy gangs are involved in the murder as the accused have boasted that they can get easily out of jail

The education part is appreciable, however, laws are also made to be enforced, else there is little difference between conventional human society and a jungle. So a person whether educated or uneducated, whether wise or otherwise, needs to first feel the long arm of the law. The education can be imparted in prison walls also.
