'Many in north-east feel they are not Indians'
by Echoes Kangla on Jan 09, 2012 10:24 AM

The separatist movement would not die out like that. There are many educated NE people working in various parts of the world who fund these organisations. Its their home ground and the Indian Army can't just come and do whatever they like. The time will come. The new youngsters of these states are more enlightened and looking forward to finding their identity. We are mongoloids by origin. We are not like you in terms of ideology, culture, religion, philosophy. We dont wanna be amongst the poor and famished 1.2 billion population. We can develop our tourism industry and survive on imports from Myanmar.

"INDIA is just an IDEA". It is "the worst idea of all". There will always be problems in implementing some good thing for the country. Half agrees, half disagree. There is nothing clear about India. All we know is its gonna go doom.

Infrastructural development is MUST !!
by Sunit Kumar on Nov 07, 2011 07:05 PM

Unless that is done, no country can survive. No matter what theory you give, loss of facilities make the cream layer leave the place, resulting in further non creation of jobs due to lack of industries.

So unless GOI does that, everything else is useless !!

Need good administration and efforts from NEW DELHI

Political establishment also should leave
VOTE BANK POLITICS
STRONG POLICY AT THE BORDERS and better pay to the security forces as well
------------------
Indian private sect should be encouraged to start new business ventures

INFOSYS chief was in Gauhathi do not know what had happened afterwards ?

north east is a good place for PACKAGING industry
Bamboo is plenty and can be replenished as well (every bamboo cut another can be grown and it grows quickly)

Bamboo is a flexible high strength natural material
india being a tropical country ,low cost housing can be built asthetically pleasing with Bamboo as the material (instead of Cement everywhere)
-----------------------------------
Besides Bamboo ,TEA ,Rubber is also available

Then we have Tourism potential and the potential to build Hydro Electrin Dams with suitable technology as well

All money in the Govt schemes towards North east should have Zero Corruption as well

i am not agree with this statement. as india is a country bearing very rich culture.unity in diversity is india's motto.india is such a country which gives it laps to reside the people of various castes , religions, races, communities, linguistic groups from the vedic period. we should not break this strength of unity in india by this false thinking.we should remember our glorious past of buddha and buddhist culture which was based on indian origin culture , tradition and united the whole south asia as the greater india during the ashok's rule of mayuryan empire.

Development is the key I guess
by rama anne on Nov 02, 2011 07:19 AM  | Hide replies

OM Shanthis messages seem to have some elements of truth and make me worry
--------
i)Central Govt has to make sure Developmental based projects in north east are not riddled with corruption

ii)Indian private sect like Mahindras should build more Resorts or facilities to spur tourism
I know Club Mahindra has some in Gangtok (sikkim) but none in Tripura ,Mizoram ,meghalaya and Arunchal Pradesh

Mahindras should invest a few thousand crores and expand the portfolio of CLUB MAHINDRA
NM-5 the new 5 seater aircraft should be used to ferry passengers between major Indian metro and North east (new limited space air strips can be built )

iii)new hosiptals ,hydro electric dams to improve living conditions

iv)AADHAR cards should cover north east first and include all the population as well
=============================
Security
---------
More powerful and well trained security at the border check posts and satellite navigation systems to track illegal movements across the border

ii)better law enforcemnet - locals should be recruited and trained as Police and new local police stations set up
Locals as Police can better protect the regions citizens and allow them to have a safer life

INDIAN GOVT at NEW DELHI should give priority and make sure no Corruption happens in all central govt schemes

North East has another precious resource guess - BAMBOO it can be cut and used in cosntruction of low cost high quality housing for rest of India

luckily BAMBOO can be re planted to grow again as well
------
Check out $300 low cost home from MAHINDRAS that combines natural materials like Bamboo to get the cost and flexibility I guess

so some Private sect Indian company can start a Bamboo processing industry in North east and generate jobs and employ locals ?
does this sound good to the North east locals ?

Nothing strange.
by s kesavan on Nov 02, 2011 06:15 AM

It is not strange that many in the north-east feel like that, and successive governments have been ignoring them, not even worrying about the security angle. Immediately after independance many in other parts of the country were feeling similarly. Then there was the talk of emotionan integration. Similar process has to take place with regard to the north-east. West Bengal is best placed for the same.
