About 40 Seats where won by Congress with a margin ranging between 20 to 500 votes. All the postal ballots of government employees help congress to win in all those 40 Assembly seats with slander margins.
Government employees were so dedicate to make sure that congress wins as congress provided full rights to government employees to loot the state, avoid work etc. But majority of the educated, middle class hard working people did not bother to vote.
Apart from that new political parties like Praja Rajyam (Chiranjeevis party) and Lok Satta (Jaya Prakash Narayan) managed to get some anti congress votes in a away attributing to loss to TDP.
India is a discreet democracy. 1. Anti-defection law prevents your MLA/MP to vote against corrupt/incompetent govt 2. 80% Indians surviving on 20 rupees/day will not vote as per their conscience

1) Anti-defection law is to prevent horse trading. If the numbers are there MPs/MLAs can vote against government.
2) Are you implying that in TN/Pondicherry/West Bengal didn't vote as per their conscience? That is a huge assumption. You can't be sitting somewhere and decide what people should or shouldn't do. How do you know they didn't vote as per their conscience.

But how many people who are paying taxes care to vote?
Unless people who are paying taxes vote to at least eliminate the worst politician in their constituency then that worst politician will be defeated and slightly better candidate will be their local MLA :). We do not have choices but at least we can make sure some a defeated.
Mr. Shenoy is by and large correct, but there are some exceptions in West Bengal. There is some element of reasoning in the loss of Buddhadeb (CM), Asim(Finance minister), Nirupam Sen (industry minister), but there is absolutely no reasoning except 'WIND' in the loss of ministers like Ashok Bhattacharjee, Kanti Ganguli and Gautam Deb who were very good performers in LF govt. These 3 persons are few times better choice than their respective opponent. On the other hand, votes in South 24 parganas have shown some maturity by defeating seating TMC MLA Mr. A. Islam from Bhangor and re-electing Mr. Razzaq Mollah from Basanti. Mr. Mollah has excellent touch with mass whereas Mr. Islam became absolute corrupted.

Another thing for Mr. Shenoy! The congress win in Assam should not be attributed as a real reward for 'good governance'. The vote share of Congress in Assam is merely 39% which is lesser than LF's share in Kerala, west bengal and even lesser than 'DMK Cong' vote share in TN.
all the middle class voters in india are mad... the will never vote with the thinking that what a difference it would make... and the people who vote are poor, dalits, muslims... i am not agains dalits and muslims but the fact is they are ignorant about what is happening around and they are emotionally blackmailed to vote at the time of elections... so at the end of the day who know the real situation dont vote... so untill and unless there are changes in the rules for voting this democracy is not going to work in long term... at least put one button in EVM "none of above" and see the % of voting...

Mr Sixer, a frustrated comment is suitable for another frustrated person. Fins out what is point in barking on messageboard if you can't change a bit what you don't like?
