I have very high respect for south indian. they are doer. they dont waste time like northy who are busy gossoping and blaming whole day.
The truth is govt cant do anything. Its all about educated people joining hand and building better inrastructure, inspiring masses to be good conusmer, creating jobs, make safe space to live a life. Govt does not have a magic button to do anything. She will succeed to the extent all MLA, IAS, Business leaders and masses support her.
This is major reason why UP and Bihar is so backward. there people think that its govt duty to give them job and better life. can u imagine few hundred lezy and currupt govt employee suppose to make better life for millions of jombie. keep dreaming.

Land Acquisition
by Srinivasan Iyer on May 15, 2011 09:45 AM

We are a democratic country and therefore land acquisition cannot be as easy as in, say, China. In most cases the politicians and bureaucrats buy up such land to make money and sometimes farmers are just tools in this 'fight' against acquisition. But apart from compensation which must be realistically done, alternatives such as giving alternate land nearby or even jobs to displaced persons in the alternate use for the acquired land could also be included in the package.

Land Acquisition

Govt.Babus want their cut in all whatever they deal,100% compensation really doesnt reach to losers, even if reach also its very low compared to market rates.

If one sanctions and others oppose there is truth which wins, punish the people who took wrong decisions, there is no law for such wrong decision makers in our country.

Give the deprived their dues
by Suresh Bhave on May 14, 2011 08:15 PM  | Hide replies

The real fear is that the deprived owner will not get the compensation. Government rarely pays up or keep the promises about resettlement of the displaced people. The deprived people should be given ownership of the asset built on the acquired land so that they get a part of the income that the asset produces. In case of SEZs the farmers should be given the shares of the companies that open their works there. In case of highways, a part of the toll should go to the farmers. The acquired land left over after the project is implemented should not be sold by the acquiring agency at a profit to anyone. If it is to be sold, the profit, minus the cost of acquisition and sale should go to the farmer in whose name it originally stood. It will avoid situations such as Government of Maharashtra selling acquired land to Amitabh bacchan a Lonavala while the original owners are living almost animal life. The government and the rich in our society are really tired of the poverty of the people whom they have pauperized by systematic loot and consider the poor an unwelcome fact that they wish to forget. Acquiring land and handing it over to the rich is their way of getting rid of the poor.

Yes - you are right. The poor are still totally deprived in this country and they have minimal rights. The land acquisition problem in WB triggered the collapse of the left front, it is now Maya's turn. I hope Maya is totally obliterated in the next elections. ScrewMayawati. What is Mayawati ? THe most corrupt and barbaric regime in India at present? These regimes know that they can do anything without losing the next elections. Forcible land acquisition will continue as long as power hungry regimes will consider that they can trample on farmers' rights without getting punished.

Congis are the biggest culprits on this!
by naresh sehgal on May 14, 2011 07:30 PM

Nehruvian license/Quota Raj for its cronies has initiated exploitation of farmers through peanut compensation for acquiring land.COngis have acquired maximum land of farmers at almost ZERO compensation since Nehru's days in establishing national wealth guzzeling PSU'S.Nehru Kept 95% Indians half fed when creating PSU'S to feed work shirker, bribe taker congi/cpmmie cadres.Congis rather than providing healthy living to poors ;destroyed city infrastructure creating shanty colonies on govt land devoid of proper roads/sewage/drinking water/parks/hospitals etc by fleecing financially poorest/weakest of society through its land mafia goons which are regularised on election eve . Nehru preferred religion based 1947 partition over giving power to old CONGI Jinnah causing butchering of more than 1.2 million innocent Indians like ducks as those unfortunates relied on Nehru bluff of protecting them in case of need in the newly carved Pakistan( now safe haven for jehadi barbarians who foolishly are trying to bring back civilization to medieval era jungle raj when Jehadi illiterate looters on the excuse of spreading Islam plundered civilized peace loving societies.Nehru created another communal problem :Kashmir by meddeling in Sardar Patel's domain.Your father Rajiv justified 1984 Genocide of Sikhs and frying of IPKF in Sri Lanka. Shameless! you are given footage , media being monopolistically owned by congi/commie ruler gang.Much defeated likes of Digvijay singhs who are shunned b

acquisition of land
by Sridhar Rao on May 14, 2011 07:23 PM

do not acquire any agricultural lands for any purpose.we used to produce enough food for all indians.if we continue to take away lands from formers a day will come when we have to get food from uncle sam.all our politicians must think of future into hundreds of years beyond and make laws accordingly ( still indian will be there so are indians) or make india a state of USA (we had one chief minister (mr.kumaraswamy) wanted to give away formers cultivatable lands (13000 acres) to one mr Gandhi of mumbai at Kolar of couse he used to call himself as champion of formers (so his father)

Simple, the acquisitoner wants to pay peanuts to the land owners...

Pay such huge amounts that the land owners lose their mental balance and can have no second thought ! This is the right way because land's value will keep on increasing every day ..

Just imagine, a person who holds a peace of the earth on his custody has to give away his right...

all political background
by PRASAD ANL on May 14, 2011 06:16 PM

It seems all politically motivated things going on. IN THE BEGINNING farmers accede for compensation and give away and afterwards when developmental works started they object for that saying they are less paid. like that government also giving them less amount than actual required. these circumstances are being used by all political parties statewise. THATS WHY PROTESTS ALL OVER COUNTRY FOR LAND ACQUISITION. BUT ONE THING SURE. IF U GO ON ACQUIRE AG.LANDS FOR DEVELOPMENTAL WORK, ONE FINE DAY THERE WILL BE NO LAND FOR GROWING ANYTHING EXCEPT PARTHANEIUM. BEWARE!

Dont Touch Farmers Land
by pushkar on May 14, 2011 04:30 PM

There is no need to give farmers fertile land to government project / industry. There are enough jobs available for All Indians in Maharashtra/Gujarat /Karnataka /Tamilnadu.We will acquire all govenment land in progressive states, we already success in Mumbai to grab all land and make our own constitutional power with vote bank.
There is absorptivity no need to grab our beloved land in north India.
