its all bullshit story . This is recession time, need to create jobs, money should flow, so os(b)ama story narrated by White House, Published by Pakistan media, directed by US military and pictured by Hollywood motion pictures. WOW stock market UP Up UP
In future, History may record that US drove out Soviets, suffered 9-11, ran a super costly operation in Af-Pak and finally made room for China to step in for a permanent stay.
This is the likely outcome if US stops giving aid to Pakistan, while China and Saudi Arabia step in a big way. The Karachi logistics would be cut off for US and China would leisurely step in to become pre-eminent power extending its reach to Middle East via Pakistan and Iran.
Arab spring makes blatant pro-Israeli policies quite uncertain. If an ally like Pakistan is lost, the balance may turn decisively in favor of China, inevitably so if Russia also combines with them.
To maintain the status-quo and delay defeat US needs a friendly Pakistan, there is simply no other option in short term. In long run, the costs would be simply unsustainable, and China would inevitably step in.
There is nothing which US can do presently to confront this long march. More so since US is relying on China to meet its cash supply needs, and looks forward to Chinese markets to double its exports. Chinese apparently do not mind paying such exit fees to US.

Making an exit from Afghanistan ASAP may be a better idea than sustaining a lossy war where the victory has not been defined. It may be better to let Chinese step in and incur costs for their extended reach.
The choice to Pakistan so far has been India versus US and China. They could afford to block India. If forced to choose between China versus India and US, the equations become totally different. The success would depend only on to what extent US can polarize itself against China.

Rational policies would indicate that losing exit fees is not an option. The ping-pong diplomacy shall continue.
India has no real say in Afghanistan presently, and if there is no say in future it would make no material difference, the loss is only in terms of opportunity costs.
Indian economy is already on long term development path, and all it needs is stability in its western borders. The firewall on Indo-Pak border hurts Pakistani economy far more than Indian, but they do not seem to mind it.
The Sino-Pak pr-eminence is something India can cope with non-alignment policies and security architecture with developed democracies.

Neither Pakistan nor China believe in the legal constructs of civil secular democracy. The old doctrines of engaging them to defeat Soviets is irrelevant now. The great Afghan game with Churchillian overtones is no more relevant. All these have become like chasing Chimera.
Makes more sense to engage and develop quality of life amongst societies premised on common understanding and ensure adequate security to defend against any ill-designed adventures.

Tibet was lost, Sinkiang was lost, now Pakistan is most willingly falling into Sino-zone.
If anything there is need for policy change by US to open up to Iran and Russia. Here success is most likely and would be highly beneficial to both US and India. With phasing out of Space Shuttles, an era is simultaneously ending in other domains as well for US.
US is forgetting that it was Pakistan who first informed US about the cell phone call which led to Osama's house in Abbotabad. US is a liability to Pakistan and Pakistan must get rid of these A-holes.
