Indian democracy and her people succeded without China's overhyped prosperity.
Some people are brainwashed to believe that (cities with broad roads == prosperity) and a solution to all problems.
Like voting in elections is an essential part of democracy, so to, good clean cities with broad roads are an essential part of prosperity. Both are necessary conditions, but not sufficient in themselves.

China prospered because broadly speaking there is rule of law there (despite there being high corruption). If people infringe law, you can be sure justice will be delivered.
In India, on the other hand, anyone can break the law with impunity without any fear.
When people lose respect for law and it becomes free for all, you cannot have prosperity. the prosperity you see in India is mainly restricted to the elite and well connected. The common man has still not tasted the fruits of prosperity.
Producing scholars, mucisians, artisans, poets, businessmen and I assume some people of science. Infact, India produced a female ruler, who was also a muslim.
It is a pity, that the more vociferous followers have hijacked the debate and are blackmailing the world, in the name of Islam. People, who are somehow at war with their finer side, with themselves.
I saw a channel for a couple of minutes recently, while surfing the different channels, that was showing some sermons by a Maulavi, and it was quite different. A bunch of grown up men, chanting and swaying, it was more like a fallback to some kind of tribal trance, rather than a group of intelligent people coming together to discuss & love GOD.

Yes, apparently these are people who didn't let a good education get in the way of their terrorism and barbarism. They lived like fugitives, bombed the Bamiyan Buddhas, killed people, why they sound like any stone age fellow with high quality firearms.
However, my point is that this was not the case some decades ago. Something changed somewhere. The morons got control.

Every body knows the strength of the people. Why embrace them. They will go and hide in Dawood's palace.

The easiest thing to do, is to slip in a bunch of impoverished youth into another country to kill their civillians. India does not even need to send their own 'stateless' actors to Pakistan for such barbarism, with our wealth, we can easily subcontract it out to say Somalia for example.
However, India behaved maturely and cornered Pakistan in the world stage. Infact, Pakistan, has become a globally recognized terrorist country, after 26/11, not after 9/11.
Secondly, after 26/11, for all their big talk, Pakistan has been unable to do much damage in India, despite our country's obvious weaknesses, of a large border, surrounded by the sea on two sides, sparsely populated in border areas, densely populated in cities, good combo to enter unseen & mingle with crowds unnoticed. Yet, India continues to grow her economy at 9% p.a., with a responsive government. When Anna went on strike, the government stood up an took notice. This is not China, where you'll get hanged if you protest against the government!

:). Exactly my point, not a nice place to be in, at least not at the moment.
