If Jayashankar can, let him restore the old Hyderabad State
by Mallik Sharma on Feb 26, 2011 03:41 PM  | Hide replies

Prof Jayashankar says much about the 60 years demand about Telangana and restoring the Telangana with its capital as Hyderabad in 1956 etc. But he forgets, nay suppresses, the fact that there was a great people's movement in Telangana itself - Vishalandhra Movement led by Devulapalli Ramanuja Rao and others and also by the then untainted and undivided communist party - which demanded the merger of Telangana and Andhra and creation of Andhra Pradesh. No doubt Andhra leaders wanted Hyderabad as capital city, having lost Madras to TN, but it was the Telangana leaders themselves who wanted, insisted and offered Hyderabad as the capital city and the Gentlemen's Agreement and the later Six Point formula wanted to keep Hyderabad as free for all regions' people. True today regional passions are running high and except in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and some parts of Nalgonda and Khammam separatists have gained a clear upper hand, but that does not mean there are no substantial numbers of integrationists even today in Telangana. All are terrorized and sought to be suppressed by chauvinist tactics, that's all. Hyderabad was not capital of Telangana, it was capital of KutbShahis and then Nizam shahis and until 1760s entire Andhra and parts of Rayalaseema were also in Hyderabad state - any novice in history should know this but which is being suppressed by TRS and Jayashankar. What you are speaking is totally incorrect. There may have been some movement for 'Vishalandhra' but it was never a popular in Telangana. You just appear to forget that Andhrites at that time were called 'Madrasis' and there was a popular adage in Hyderabad of describing the andhrites as 'Madraasi Khaal' meaning stubborn. Moreover there was never ever a cultural bondage between Andhra & Telangana people. People from North India, Gujarat, and Rajasthan came to Telangana and they adapted themselves and integrated with the people here. But the Andhrites never had that intention and they tried to impose their culture on Telangana, and they began ridiculing the Telangana culture, and all this was confirmed by the First States Re-organisation Commission, popularly known as Fazal Ali Report, and the speech of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The thing to ponder is that you Andhrites are in habit of speaking lies to your convenience without feeling any shame and as a race you are a tribe of exploiters and the worst thing is that you shamelessly try to justify your actions.

I appreciate your views and suggestions on developing the state. You are saying Andhra people should sacrifice to provide jobs for Telangana people. We never want that. We only want what is due to us.
To get the facts and know how Telangana has been cheated and exploited, please read Chapter-I of SKC Report.

Hi Ravinder
I did download and read it yesterday the first few pages of it actually
yes I agree the facts and also I feel very painful in heart as Iam from AP region ,but I have good friends in Telanagana too as we had a medical shop in Mehdipatnam for 25 years
So I had worked with Afsar Khan a muslim from Lungerhouz
and Madhusudhan from Karawan
Both are my friends so I know how people feel about it
I also know and understand the current politics and can see many leaders in politics not upto mark
so how do we save our common people be it in AP or Telangana region from political predators
How do we develop the state ?
how can we make people not emotional slaves but intelligent people who can reject vote bank politics and demand development ???

Pls understand that Vidiga unte vidipoyinattu kadu.
Even some poets from Andhra region have said “Kudalla vidipodam, Kavadi la kalisundam” in their recent book. Not all brothers in a family are staying together after marriages. Does it mean that they are not united? Aren’t telugu people living in other states like Bangalore, Mumbai and countries like USA, UK etc.? aren’t people from other states like Tamilians living in Hyd? What would be the problem if people from Andhra region stay here if the state is bifurcated? Even I have lot of friends from Andhra region. They do not have any problem if the state is bifurcated. It is only the rich and wealthy people and politicians like Lagadapati and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao who are against it coz they have a lot of property in and around Hyd.

The committee agrees that there is merit in the demand for separate state and is not unjustified. They have concluded with the words of first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel “it will be a folly to ignore realities; facts take their revenge if they are not faced squarely and well”.

With respect to developing the state or nation, I feel that the judiciary should become strong in India b’coz it is the only one which can question the politicians and do justice.
