The article starts with "My". I instantly guessed the focus is going to be on the writer and the reader is not the key here

As I read further I saw 'Nanak Bedi'. Who on earth calls him that? All Sikhs call him Guru Nanak or sometimes more affectionately Baba Nanak. Guru Nanak chose to reject the caste system predominant in Hindus at that time(not a negative on the Hindus in any way but it was more about a positive idea whose time had come) and hence castes like Bedi are downplayed in Guru's name. This was made more formal when his 10th successor Guru Gobind Singh explicitly banned caste system and converted all high and low caste followers into the uniform community of 'Singhs' and 'Kaurs'.

As I continued to read, I saw "my ancestor..". I smiled. So the writer has an ancestral link to the Guru. Good for him. but what has that got to do with the readers? Not sure if the writer knows that Guru Nanak rejected his own son in favour of an outsider in his choice for the Second Guru after him. The writer probably missed this irony in his pride of being a relative.

By now anyone could have guessed the writer's last name and as I scrolled down to the end of the article, I could see the surname Bedi.

I will not take away from the pride of a connection or respect the writer feels for the Guru. It is human nature and helps the ego. What we all should remember is that living the teachings of any Guru is the real test of our

cc cc has made excellent comments.
In my opinion, if it was not for the caste system, India would never have become a slave nation under Iranians, Turks, Afghans, Pakis, British, Huns, etc.
All of Indian subcontinent would have continued to follow dharma. But Alas! the manubadis migrants from the middle east came and scrwwed India up, these outsiders are the true allies of the murderous cult of terrorust isslam.

these aryanInvaders have ruled and crushed the native indians and have made plenty of their own rules for indians so that they will never come out of the clutch of these invaders...all those who study shashtras understand this and kick theseVermins out of their lives...

others also must free themselves from the slavery of verminAryansInvaders..

Aaryan invasion of India was a myth invented by Westerners to convince the "natives" that they have been ruled by white people. The only evidence presented was literary (with reference to the Rg Ved) and linguistic (Indo-European family of languages). This was before archeaolgical discoveries of the Harappan civilization. Now as excavations continue, some of the key pillars of this bogus theory have been disproved. For example:

1. Aaryans had horses which the "natives" had never seen: Excavations in Surkotada show horse skeletons several layers below the supposed arrival of Aaryans.

2. Aaryans had iron while the "natives" only had copper: At Kalibangan and other places many iron weapons have been found prior to the supposed invasion.

3. Invaders destroyed the urban Harappan cultures: Many recents sites in the east show inhabitation cotinued long after the western cities were destroyed.

Harappan civilization was probably undermined by rising river levels and changing weather patterns. But of course this sedate explanation does not fit into the white superiority narrative. And the brown sahibs of today eagerly follow what the white man taught them.

i think it is nice to know that the great guru's heirs still live amongst us - and seemingly very well - specially in view of the extraordinarily brutal islamic history that visited upon the place that scattered so many of the people there. i was hoping actually mr. rahul bedi said a bit more about his family and guru ji's other heirs. after all, he is merely giving an interesting account of historic continuity; not as if he is claiming a right to rule punjab like the gandhis do in nai dillie. btw, why are congressis of gandhis get elected in punjab?
the caste thing is way overplayed and without merit- as is moorthy pooja. caste is not going away, and no hindu social reformer from ram mohan rai to mahatma gandhi had anything negative thing to say against it. let us not get carried away by mono thist propaganda. caste is no obstacle against living upto teachings of any guru.
