Has MMS failed in bringing back the Black Money deposited abroad
by Praveen on Feb 28, 2011 04:44 PM  | Hide replies

Recently there has been a lot of pressure on MMS to bring back the Black money deposited abroad. Since it is our money, the public money, the persons found guilty of Black money hoardings need to be hanged afetr the money is recovered.

Why is it getting delayed in taking decision.

Secondly, Indian govt has given license to 8 foreign banks to open branches within our country. Are the nationalised banks not capable of doing the job.

Answers to these wo questions will reveal our PM's ability in handling the job.

BLACK MONEY DEPOSITED ABROAD BELONGS TO THE POLITICIANS AND THE BUSINESSMAN WHO HAS NOT PAID TAX FOR THE SOURCE OF INCOME AND SINCE HIGHLY RESPECTED PEOPLE ARE INVOLCED THE ACTION AND BRINGING BACK THE MONEY TO INDIA IS A TOUGHEST JOB FOR PM.
SECONDLY SINCE THE NATIONALISED BANKS ARE NOT ABLE TO DO GOOD THINGS ARE PLEASE THE CUSTOMERS THE GOVERNMENT HAS GRANTED LICENCES TO FOREIGN BANKS.
PM HAS THE ABILITY TO DO BUT HIS HANDS ARE TIED.

Really, the PM has the ability to bring this oney back? Can you tell me where this money is, which banks, and who to call to get it back? There is a reason it is called black money, because it cannot be traced. And these banks don't talk about their customers as a rule. If it was easy to identify and bring back, BJP would have done it when they were in power.

But it is easy to keep parrotting the line without much thought, because it's easy to do so from an laptop.

I agree with Praveen. We have no need for foreign banks in India. In fact, what is the use of foreign companies operating in India? We should be self-reliant in all walks of life. In that case, we will be prosperous like North Korea. (Self-reliance is the national ideology of North Korea).

hahaha. North Korea. Good one. I wish we had a history of self-reliance. If we had gone for that right after independence and spent like 40-50 years chanting that mantra, and given licenses to our own people to produce products, we wouldn't need these foreign companies, because they are to blame for all our ills anyway. ;)

You only have to look at all the self-reliant countries to see how prosperous they are. Under Mao Tse Tung, China also foilowed a policy of self-reliance. When Mao died in 1979, China abandoned the policy of self-reliance and started the policy of opening out to the world. The results are there for all to see.

What is so specail in Pratap Bhanu Mehta

I don't find anything special or intellectual in Pratap Bhanu Mehta's comment, as much as hyped in his introduction.
I guess, Rediff really doesn't have better job to do.

He has given a very plausible defence for the PM. Since there has been no auction (and thus enabling the 2G spectrum scenario), the PM has a plausible and convincing defence which he failed to put forth. In other words, the PM has not done anything wrong at all according to him.

He, like all of us reads this forum and has the basic inteligence to comment on the topic. That's enough of a qualification in a democracy - The same way every 5 years the common man can pass judgement on the so called super genius, super honest Prime minister

really, that's enough of a qualification? I don't think so. He has the power, but not the qualification because non is needed. Doesn't mean what he says is intelligent, just that he has the power to say it.
