There was another shake 7.1 in September last year that caused some of the buildings to collapse some structures were pulled down as they were unsafe. But the epicentre of yesterday's earthquake was close to the city. That is the reason we have lot of casualities. On top of it, the weather was very bad yesterday. But rescue efforts are going on.

do consult a geography book as Both magnitude and depth of epicentre determine the damage done

How foolish to blame everything on God!
by a a on Feb 22, 2011 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

If u think about it carefully God is just a figment of prehistoric man's imagination. His knowledge of science was not developed then so things like earthquake, lightening, floods etc. scared him. So they thought some divine being is doing this to them And then they started praying. Different people in different parts of the world started praying to different "Gods" - Allah, Ram, Sun God, Ra... whatever name you give it, its just a figment ancient man came up with. Then as migration took place, previously geographically isolated groups of people came in contact with each other and started fighting over whose God is the true one. That has been happening over 1000s of years. Sadly even now when science can explain so many of the "miracles" of the past, we still fight over ancient man's creation - God. The fact is we created God, God did not create man. And priestly class in all religions have taken full advantage of foolish followers, be it christian priests, hindu priests, mullahs... any religios, over the centuries they have benifitted always. Its just sad that in spite of all the advances in arts, culture and science, we still haven't evolved from our cave mentality nand fight over a non-existent being called God. We ascribe so many things we can't explain to God's doing while the fact is in a few centuries science will be more evolved to explain all these currently unexplainable phenomenons. That is what science does.

Why science is not able to explain AID? The faculty given to us is only for the limited purpose. We cannot use the same to explore the Unlimited... Surrender to the Mighty. Understand your helplessness... Science explains 100 billion galaxies... each galaxy have their own STARs and each Star is several lakh time bigger than the earth.... what are we trying to explore..... Only one possiblity... You can understand this through your LOVE for HIM.... He is so MIGHTY yet so simple.. You split the Atom you can seem HIM there. Accept the reality.

I dont know to which relegion you belong to and I dont care! I dont know to which country you belong to and again I dont care! What I care is that thousands of the victims who ran helter-shelter to save their precious lives when confronted with the devastating power of earth quake are simply mortals like you and me and at least at that time their ego is disolved and they, some of them multi millioners and some of them beggars are at the mercy of the nature whom some of us call God and some of us call Allah or any name you choose to give. It is ultimately the same universal power! Let us forget our relegious tag, let us forget our ethnic tag, let us forget our caste tag and accept the fact no one is inferior or superior! We are only toys in the hands of NATURE (GOD)and your material wealth will not come for your rescue in a crises!

lol. Quite funny and naive. All these people with wchoolbook science lessons making sweeping statements. Just so you know, in the higher levels of research, science has gone beyond matter and is now into meta physics as well. Various theories are turning on their heads. Science is a study in motion. It is never over since we know so little. So don't use science as reason to prove or disprove something. Learn more about science and also pseudo science. Everything has its place, including God and science.

Nice to see that Some1 is wiritng about GOD. I Know only one thing God is in me and Evil also. So what u want to keep insie it is upto us. GOD will always shows u the correct way and Evil opposoite. So controlling our mind for Good is most toughest thing for a Human, to control our mind we need GOD not evil. just think about it.... and then decide. thanks

We all have divinity in us, but mostly remains beneath our false pride and materialistic aspirations. Instead of arguing about 'your God' or 'my God' let the true potential of a divine humanity be harnessed for the well being of ALL OF US.
