In an interview published in The Sunday Times of India (8 June 1986), our own famous artist J. Swaminathan said: "One of the worst paintings in the world is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci." I agree. My own impression about ML is that it looks like a someone who hasn't had a bath or even washed her face for several months. On the wall of a garbage dump near my residence, there used to be an advt poster for a "beauty parlour" named after ML. I think that is where the "painting" itself belongs, or, better still, perhaps right inside the dump.

Art, literature, music are important in life. For us, indians, we are so much obsessed with mandir-masjid rubbish that we fail to realize the importance of such things.

Venice is city and was a capitol city once. Allappy is dirty backwater with fishing villages around with fish smell.
