Yoga is popular among a section of westerners, true !
But so are hundreds of other practices, beliefs, concepts, etc. from foreign lands !
Read and find out how Egyptian voodoo, Chinese feng shui, acupuncture, Icelandic shamaanism, etc. are equally or more 'popular' in the west !
Riches and comfort in time bring a certain interest for the exotic. And yoga is one more in the big list of exotic things that sections of westerners follow with interest !!

No, I was just trying to answer those who labour in forums such as this to express their ignorant impression that yoga has caught on like wild fire across the world to the exclusion of every other interest !!
And in being so defensive about it, you too appear to have harboured this very notion !

But Rastafari is indeed one more among the hundreds and hundreds (of which 'Yoga' is just one more) of fads/persuasions/interests that western society possesses !!
we human beings were aliens to earth!yes all the gods in hindu dharma were those aliens! we are living on planet earth with a goal which we dont know.and this goal will be achieved by work!our bhagvatgita also tells same that work is worship! even if we dont worship god its ok for our gods!actually there no such thing as god!infact we call them gods because they created us!for us they are everything but these (alien)gods also have some limitations and thats why wrong things happen! lord shankar used meditate with "om" mantra! om is not just a word it is the sound of universe! even scientist have proven this! all the matter(material) which exists in this universe including we human biengs has a particular frequency & if we combine all such matter the resulted frequency will be sound om! in the movie koi mil gaya hrithik roshan send same om sound frequency to find aliens and he suceeds in it also! when we humans biengs will succede in understanding the universe fully we will become gods...!
Indians when they are able to sell the latter Pepsi Cola, high priced drugs, weapons, devious financial instruments, GM seeds, brands, etc.
In return, a tiny section of Indians benefits immensely by being able to sell stuxpid westerners high priced yoga, 'mumbo jumbo' philosophy, 'spiritual' junk, etc. !!
The great difference is that the westerners benefit a whole lot more through such trade than the Indians do !!
And this big difference leads to some of that benefit spreading out to common westerners while the benefits garnered by the Indian 'yoga gurus' and other such merchants of trinkets accrue entirely to them alone !!

Think and read about trade between the west and India and understand how commoners' stuxpidity drives most of it and how the benefits are garnered by just a thin section alone !!
