Where was Excise Deptt in S 24 Pgs.? Simply suspending the officer is no remedy. Take some exemplary steps against excise deptt. to root out this menace. Entire Excise Dept. must be taught a lesson so that they will think 1000 times to do anything wrong till their death.

Excise & Customs deppartment is a leader in corruption. Obviously the Cops and Excise officials were aware about the distillation, transportation & distribution of illicit liquor. The local cops must also be sacked and their properties attached!

Why blame CPM now?
by AnotherBengali on Dec 16, 2011 02:37 PM  | Hide replies

Local Panchayet, Zila Parishad, MLA, MP all are with TMC. State Govt is with TMC. Mamata is CM and Home minister. She heads both the administration and police dept. She already got 7 months. Could not she order to demolish liquor dens? How many days it take to demlish such dens? Even if they have started in left rule, she could easily stop that. She can put a current MLA behind bars on skeleton case, she can pass ordinances to get singur land back in no time, and now if she blames CPM for this incident that is unbelieveable. But the sad part is in West Bengal, people believe in such conspiracy theories, as they also beleived that CPM arranged Gyaneswari accident though later Mamata contradicted herself.

Mr Bengali
Gyanweshari accident was done by CPM every one knows that now.Police tapped the conspiratoprs phone calls atleast 10 hours before the incident happened but due to some pressure from the hme ministry then led by Budhdhadeb did not take any action to stop that accident. You can refer to Hindustan Times and TOI in this regard.Everyone now knows what the CPM can do to malinge the present Govt
and when you talk about 7 months...why this CPM cuold not demolish these dens in last 34 years...??

Please get your facts right before writing. The CBI has already come out with the verdict that the Gyanweshari accident was a pre planned sabotage of the Moists. Our current CM to also aired it on Star Ananda. Regarding the Hooch incident, please note that the Gram Panchayat is under the TMC for the past 4 years. It was the duty of local administration to take care of it. You just cannot keep on blaming the last Govt. for any and everything. The people of have voted for change, where is the change. Yes the Govt. i only 8 months old but the Gram Panchayat is 4 yrs old.

Gives me a real laugh. Nowadays even blind supporters too don't listen to didi. Mamata, as CM, only said that Gyaneswari was done by Maoists, that too in Kolkata in a rally and it was shown in all major TV channels

Now for demolishing such liquor dens, fact is CPM and TMC are two sides of same coin. If TMC was serious about such things they would have done it in one day. They simply don't want.
You know, you can wake up someone who is sleeping, but not someone who is pretending.

Kaka, let us agree that the owner of these dens was with left and now with TMC, that is the reason neither left nor TMC tried to demolish these

Its a human tragedy, lets accept that and move on. All breast beating will not bring the dead back. Even if I had myself died in this tragedy, or my near and dear one, breast beating won't bring me / them back.

Lets take immediate corrective action:

1) Sufficient compensation for all victims to move on very well in life. Instead of a piddly lumpsum, of say Rs. 1 to 5 lacs, I would advocate a monthly lumpsum payment of Rs. 10,000 for the wife and Rs. 2500 extra per month per child. This sounds stupid, like rewarding people who have more children, but look with one spouse dead, there will NOT be anymore children. Let the remaining children have a stab at life, at food, clothing and above all, some education.

The allowance for the wife should be for her natural life term or 15 years, which ever is LONGER. The allowance for the children should be till they attain the age of 21 years.

2) Ofcourse arrest the perpetrators and punish them to the maximum extent permissible under law.

Lets follow up with Preventive Actions:

1) Spread awareness of the ills of drinking.
2) Open / encourage Alcoholics Anonymous and other counselling / rehab organizations / facilities.

3) License country liquour manufacturers and make the same hygenic and available at a low cost, thus eliminating the latent demand for the toxic / unlawful alcohol.

A, by what passes for 'logic' according to Javed, then whatever else his community memebers get convicted for, or suffer from is NOT considered a SIN.

I'm sure you know what I'm hinting at!

HOW CAN IT HAPPEN ?
by madanmohan siddhanthi on Dec 16, 2011 10:43 AM

It may sound unfair or even can call it total mistrust .I have a feeling this sort of thins do not happen unless there is a political support from low rug politicians or a very senior one .May be the influence of Regional films and Hindi films could be major reason . All the same I for one will believe there must lot of political patronisation in this sort of liquor business . Even it may sound foolish but think Anna's comment lashes to drunkards - perhaps we could have avoided so many deaths .Now big part of corruption is money promised to victims family will be pocketed by politicians -such is their stock today.
