I remember the following words in the epitaph at Kohima (Nagaland) war memorial (which is a memorial for Allied soliers fallen at the Battle of Kohima in World War II):

"When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today"

I learnt about this story when I was a kid probably in 80's. There was a episode on DD that showed how this brave Sikh faught till death.
God bless his soul and the family who gave such a Braveheart to India.
