Swamy is a wasted talent
by aftab on Dec 08, 2011 09:39 AM  | Hide replies

Dr Swamy is undounbtedly an extremely talented person but he has wasted his talent. Had he used his core specialisation for the betterment of country, it would have been better.

However I like his latest effort to become a PIL expert and taking up the corruption issue and trying to take it to its logical conclusion.

There are many people spitting communal venom both in Hindu and Muslim community. It was sad that he has taken a life membership of this dirty community.

If he has to clean up dirty place/people, obviously he may get some dirt on his body...what is important is to cleanup the larger dirt. else, it will spoil the whole atmosphere.

There is no justification to drop courses. Dr S's view on election in India is his personal view. There is no need to read too much about it.

What IsHate Speach?
by Balan Iyer on Dec 08, 2011 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

Ms Linda Cross seems to be confused between hate speech and freedom of expression! The term "Disenfranchisement" is only offensive to the extent of it being a tongue twister;otherwise it is harmless in the Indian context wherein the faith in Political Leaders as well as election is a lost commodity for almost all the Indian People.

At least Rediffmail should stop using such insulting caption as "Harvard Snubs Dr Subramanian Swamy" on a man who ripped off the mask of many corrupt politicians.

LOL @ disenfranchisement ... good one. But here's a thought - can a public figure's private views be also considered private? Admittedly, I'm sitting on the fence with this issue ... still its those Harvard students who could have benefited from his knowledge that are the net losers.

"The term "Disenfranchisement" is only offensive to the extent of it being a tongue twister;otherwise it is harmless in the Indian context"

Means in India a few people can decide who should be guven to vote and who should not... Then I noticed the tag, 'Iyer'. That explains it. Haven't come to terms with equality and such stuff yet.

Dr. Swamy isn't some lunatic who talks out of whim. He is highly knowledgeable and respected. Anyone who does not belive in the same does not deserve to be part of India. I understand this is what Swamy has said in many different words. Anyone who does not respect and believe in India and its plurality should not be given voting rights and mere birth should not make one enjoy the benefits of being an India

Freedom of expression
by Mr Walker on Dec 08, 2011 09:23 AM  | Hide replies

I do find Swamy's article a bit radical but then there are thousands of such articles which speak in derogatory manner on all non Muslim faiths too which are authored by a lot of people staying in the west.

This sounds more like a thing to get back at Swamy and the Indians for their opposition to corruption and FDI in retail.

The west seriously has to decide if they want to keep on supporting the current Congress and its ideology which has proved dangerous to this nation as well as world.

Swamy has been the whistle blower against the corrupt proxies of west Madam and Baba. Also because of the things he has exposed Swiss banks and other foreign banks are facing issues due to corrupt people now depositing their money elsewhere. The western agencies do not like their plans to be disrupted and will act to suppress such people like Swamy.
